lcscats
They can help or not. So it depends. The booster has to be close enough to the modem to get a good signal and than rebroadcast that signal. I would buy an access point box myself rather than the plug into the wall ac plug type of repeater.
sm1mex
Yes. We got a booster from Steren.
Natasha
Recently learned (from expert -- NOT me!!!) they do NOT work with TotalPlay modems. Apparently they have/can supply their own types. I know Eric is not asking about them, but TP users might want to know.

Usually no WiFi booster is needed for current new TotalPlay modems -- they send a good signal already, much better than a 10-year-old Telmex router. But TotalPlay offers free compatible WiFi mesh repeaters (mesh is better than plain repeaters) with their 100 Mbps and faster optical fiber offerings, as a freebie. Just ask for them to send you these extra wireless mesh antennas to extend coverage to another part of your home. They outperform those cheap non-mesh repeaters by a wide margin. "Mesh" = good repeater. Advanced users can use their own separately-purchased WiFi mesh router with TotalPlay routers (turn off the TotalPlay WiFi and hook your router to an Ethernet port of the existing TotalPlay optical fiber router modem). Then you can use any "Mesh WiFi" system you buy from Mercado Libre or Amazon such as Eero, Plume, Google, etc.
