Eric Blair
I'm really tired of the sh**ty internet service here in Chapala Haciendas 2. We are at the end of the Line and seems always problems. I would love to ditch TM but my wife needs the landline because she calls her family & friends in Panama constantly. Any realistic suggestions appreciated. Thanks.
mudgirl
Your wife doesn't need a landline to call Panama. She can use Whatsapp on her phone to message and call. It's free, just uses phone data.
AndyPanda
And remember, most TelCel plans don't even use your prepaid data amount for Whatsapp/Facebook Messenger, among others. So those calls are costless.
MtnMama
Keep the landline at the lowest monthly rate. Use another service - I have had good luck with Telcel Internet - for your Internet. You might also look into Skype for calling.

johanson
Telmex offers a landline with basic internet for $389 pesos per month or at 20 to 1, less than $20 US per month. So if Telmex offers only a landline without internet, it would be for even less than $389 pesos per month
Natasha
Recently checked for an elderly neighbour. TM DOES offer land line only BUT only 100 local calls, NO international LD nor cell phone calls. It was in the range of $240-260 pesos if I remember correctly. Stream
Fiber optic became available lakeside last year didn't it? The guy doing internet video mentioned getting fiber optic internet. ILOX was the company. By the way. 100Mbps is cable speeds so I figure they only run one router of the fiberoptic line that throttles back speeds. http://www.ilox.mx/zona-de-cobertura?lang=en

utilitus
Realistic is relative... Musks' pricey satellite internet service supposedly is about to debut in Mexico: https://mexiconewsdaily.com/news/elon-musks-starlink-satelllite-service-gets-federal-approval/ https://www.theverge.com/22435030/starlink-satellite-internet-spacex-review https://www.starlink.com/faq Fixed 5G and fiber buildout will probably continue, but who knows... Ilox is not available in Chapala Haciendas; Total Play sales people say December or January.
