Combined with the new shipments, the Biden administration aims to send a total of 80 million doses abroad within the next six weeks.

That figure amounts to five times more vaccine shared by the U.S. than by any other country so far, according to a senior administration official.

Remember Astra Z. was never approved in the US along with the Chinese vaccines.  Thats what they sent to Canada and Mexico before.  I do not know what they are going to send now.

While AstraZeneca hasn't been approved, the US has a stockpile of it. They never bought any Chinese vax (nor Russian) and have none within the US, hence none to share.

From Axios, on April 26, 2021

The U.S. will begin sharing its full inventory of AstraZeneca vaccine doses with countries around the world once an FDA safety review is complete, AP reports.

Why it matters: The Biden administration had been under intense global pressure for refusing to share its stockpile of the AstraZeneca vaccine, which is critical to vaccine rollouts in countries like India but not approved for use in the U.S. Per AP, the administration now expects to be able to share around 60 million doses in the coming months.

AstraZeneca has been approved for use in the U.K. and some other European countries. The U.S. has it's own approval process. Here is an article from the Smithsonian Magazine: https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/revised-astrazeneca-data-show-its-covid-19-vaccine-76-percent-effective-180977356/

Since the U.S. has contracted sufficient doses of Covid vaccines from Moderna, BioNTech, and Johnson & Johnson for it's own population, it is shipping excess doses of AstraZeneca to other countries including Canada and Mexico. There is nothing nefarious about this decision.

It would also be prudent to point out that what a country contracts for and what is actually received are two very different scenarios. That situation has played out in Canada, the EU and Britain. I don't know about other countries.
