mudgirl
Most media outlets have their biases. Some are quite evident, some less so. Their biases mostly come into play in what they choose to report, but the crucial thing for readers and listeners is to not take things at face value, but to do some digging to find the source and the legitimacy of the original story. Unfortunately, the average person doesn't do this, they just tend to follow the media outlets that echo their own personal views and believe whatever they read or hear there.
barrbower
https://www.allsides.com/unbiased-balanced-news Allsides News is a good source for different viewpoints on the same topic. Click on the story for more details and then compare to another version of the "truth." Quite interesting to see different headlines from left, right, and center about the same story. This site fully admits there is bias in all news but they seek out different sources so you can see all sides. Alan
Mainecoons
A very rigorous German study: https://www.mdpi.com/1660-4601/18/8/4344/htm The "Limitations" section towards the end and the conclusions are of interest.

This study didn't look at mask-wearing as a means to prevent the spread of disease; it only looked at negative aspects of mask-wearing such as discomfort, skin irritation, impact on air-intake in persons with other infirmities. From the study: Our approach with a focus on negative effects is in line with Villalonga-Olives and Kawachi [12]. With the help of such selective questioning in the sense of dialectics, new insights can be gained that might otherwise have remained hidden. Our literature search focused on adverse negative effects of masks, in particular to point out risks especially for certain patient groups. Therefore, publications presenting only positive effects of masks were not considered in this review.

peteben
I admit I was kind of skeptical at first. Covid was the bogeyman, and nobody knew how you could protect yourself. Then data started coming in. This article and other like it convinced me that masks were effective: https://www.ctvnews.ca/health/coronavirus/how-two-hairstylists-with-covid-19-saw-139-clients-without-passing-on-the-virus-1.5023700

For some unknown reason ("always right" syndrome?) isn't content to just have his opinion, needs to try to keep convincing everyone.
