Makes a lot of sense to do this if you want the most reliable source IMO.  We are going north this summer and will make the decision on this at that time after we've had the opportunity to see how it is working out as far as side effects are concerned.

There is a good chance that the US will have excess vax by late summer or early fall.  The US can donate its excess to other countries, as they see fit.  AMLO seems poised to continue bad-mouthing the US with his populist propaganda.  Gotta wonder if the US decides to donate excess to more friendly countries???

Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said Tuesday that his country is doing better than the United States in dealing with the coronavirus pandemic, even though Mexico’s per capita death rate is probably higher and the country has vaccinated less than 1% of its population.

López Obrador said Tuesday that comparing countries is in “bad taste,” but went on to say “the most powerful nation on earth, our neighbor, did worse than us.”

The Mexican government’s “estimated” death toll from COVID-19 is now about 201,000. The United States death toll is around 500,000, but its population is 2.6 times larger.

Moreover, estimates of excess deaths in Mexico since the start of the pandemic suggest the COVID-19 toll is now well above 220,000. Mexico has administered about 1.7 million vaccine doses, while the U.S. has given 64 million shots.

López Obrador blamed rich countries for “hoarding” vaccines, calling that “totally unfair,” and said “the U.N. has to intervene.”

López Obrador has demanded the United States vaccinate the millions of Mexicans living in the U.S. with or without legal documents; Mexico says its consulates in the United States have even been registered as vaccination centers.

But a photo circulated on social media showed a sign posted last week outside one Mexico City vaccination center stating “No Foreigners Will be Vaccinated.”

Presidential spokesman Jesús Ramírez said that was a mistake, and promised everyone over 60, foreigners and Mexicans alike, would have access to vaccines.

“That was a photo of one center, and that message was corrected,” Ramírez said.

But Dr. Ruy López Ridaura, the country’s director of disease prevention and control, said the exclusion of foreigners apparently occurred at other sites in the opening weeks of the vaccination effort.

“There may have been some confusion at some operating sites,” López Ridaura said. “It was a communication problem. ... The orders are totally clear now, foreigners will also receive their vaccinations.”

López Obrador invited Argentine President Alberto Fernández onstage at his daily morning press conference Tuesday, and the Argentine leader proposed that vaccine companies be forced to cede intellectual property rights and allow anyone to manufacture their shots.

“The idea is to propose at the G20 the need to declare COVID-19 vaccines as ‘global goods,’ so that they cede their intellectual property rights and all countries can freely produce them,” Fernández said.

Mexico is trying to beef up its supply of Pfizer vaccines with Russian and Chinese shots, and late Monday the country received its first shipment of 200,000 doses of the Russian Sputnik V vaccines.

Mexico has had over 2 million test-confirmed coronavirus cases, but the low level of testing means the real number is probably several times that amount.

I received my 2nd shot in Miami last week..the logistics for doing this work is very challenging and I admire both the volunteers and service personal involved, a big thanks to all concerned

 Nobody should  bother to read what they say and watch what is really happening instead. Mexico is getting snubbed by vaccine manufacturing countries, except Russia, because they are violating, axing, showing no interest in participating in, AMLO not showing up at the G4 conference and the G20 etc. any trade agreements with these countries. Serves them right for being uncooperative and not properly   in good faith following all parts inclusuve the agreements that Mexico had signed. This will not go away.

Not sure about that. In any case, it's one thing to use diplomatic tactics when dealing with another government. It's another thing altogether to ignore the health needs of an entire country using politics as a lever, especially since the health of the world depends on all countries being united in their fight against this pandemic.

Israel won't vax Palestinians in occupied areas.  Instead they are donating excess vax to other countries with pro-Israeli policies.

I had hoped the headline meant Israel's leaders re-thought their policy; however, it was halted due to a lawsuit brought against them.  Hopefully the courts will stop this diplomatic blackmail.

My wife, a Mexican citizen received her first Pfizer vaccine shot today.  The Chickasaws, my tribe are now vaccinating tribal member spouses.  She complained it hurt her arm but after buying her blueberry pancakes, the pain went away.  They are now saying the first shot Pfizer vaccine can be up to 90% effective.  Many countries are now planning on giving just the one shot so they can do double the number of people vaccinated.  Johnson & Johnson is advertised as a one shot vaccine but it appears one shot from Pfizer is more effective than J&J.

Just listened to the CEO of Pfizer on national news. He was asked specifically about this 'one-shot- scenario. He said that there was not enough data yet about this approach and he cautioned to NOT.  "Maybe in another 6 months we'll have enough data to make a comment on that, but not now".

I've had my 2 Pfizers plus 28 days.... still wearing a mask and distancing.  YMMV

P.S.  Taken as 'percentages only', it does appear that the J&J vaccine being 'only' 66% effective is trailing the pack. BUT their shot is said to be 100% effective with severe cases and at keeping one out of the hospital and preventing deaths. Of course all that means is that no one in their 'small' control group died. The proof will be 6 months down the road with millions of injections.

I went to San Antonio to get my Pfizer vaccine. Both times the Doctors, Nurses, Paramedics and Volunteers could not have been nicer and more professional. Still wearing my mask and intend to keep wearing it whenever I am not in my home. Safety of all far supersedes personal freedom.

Remember, the US Government made contracts with many of the drug companies to attempt to create a vaccine and the contracts did not say the resulting product had to work. The American taxpayers underwrote the R&D risk for these companies but now Obrador says the products belong to the world? Sounds like a philosophy becoming more prevalent in the US. "Capitalism doesn't work because people are selfish."  "People will work for the common good in a socialist society." Yeah, right!

I can confirn this vague presentation  by the poster "pappysmarket" of events about 8 or 9 months ago in ALL mainstream US newspapers and  online and TV news. A Trump give away to Big Pharma. Millions and millions of dollars with no strings attached.

Got our first AstraZeneca/Oxford COVID-19 vaccine Thursday Feb 25 in Cihuatlán, Jalisco. The clinic was for aged 60 and over. My ticket read that I was #293 but as I entered I was told there were no more vials ready - short wait while they mixed up new ones in the back. There were many more seniors waiting after us.

Unfortunately a lack of bathrooms.

I can confirm of course the huge allotment of funds. I think we all know this. I can find nothing that answers the critical part: "did not say the resulting product had to work."
