AngusMactavish
There is a dish that most foreigners have not tried or even heard of. I first ignorantly ordered it off of a chalkboard menu on the side of a fonda in Creel, Chihuahua, Caldo de Oso. Another patron that witnessed my ordering it came over and said i would not probably like it and I should order something else. No, it is not bear soup but a stew of catfish reminiscent of that made on the shores of Lake Okeechobee, Florida. It is strong tasting and stronger yet smelling. It is also available in Jalisco with the name, Caldo Michi. I just had my fix from the Mercado in Chapala, second floor at Fonda la Güera. Dose it with the furnished lime and a tad of hot sauce. A real primal treat.
