Official Local Covid Data From Jalisco State Site

Recommended Posts

Today I asked @Mostlylost to review and compare the Covid reports he had been getting from a Federal agency, which are woefully out of date.  I asked him to look at the more accurate and up to date Jalisco official site.  For example, today for Chapala the Federal site lists 22 cases.  However, the Radar Jalisco government site lists 33 cases (over 30 percent more).

Rather than looking at the most up to date info, in a fit of pique, @Mostlylost deleted his old thread.  I regret he reacted that way and became upset, but the Federal site is horribly out of date and inaccurate as he would have realized had he had an open mind and looked at the Jalisco site.

The Radar Jalisco site is the source used by the Chapala Gobierno, at least 2 local Mexican papers (La Pagina and Seminario Laguna) and the GDL Reporter.

Today Hector Espana, the Chapala Expat Liaison explained the reason why Radar Jalisco is more up to date and accurate.

Chapala is now showing 33 covid cases. Why do my numbers vary from the Federal, for example. The federal system time wise falls behind the more local numbers. I speak to the Virologist assigned by the state to the Jocotepec Community hospital. He is the basis of the official report.

La Pagina newspaper does an excellent job reporting cases quickly and using the most up to date Jalisco site.  This is link for them.  They usually get the info late in the evening.   A google auto English translate follows.

Here are links to where you can find the most up to date info.  Any one of them, one click away.

My attempt was to clear up confusion between the Federal out of date numbers and the Jalisco up to date numbers.  Please read Hector's explanation.  The Feds today reported 22 cases in Chapala, when the official Jalisco site reported 33 cases.

Does Chapala stats include Ajijic?  Never have seen cases in Ajijic listed.

None of the official sites give data down to the village level.

There is a self-reporting site for Covid.  This site, https://www.facebook.com/groups/ChapalaHealthTalk/ does report the info from the self-reporting site.  She acknowledges there is no way to verify the accuracy of self-reports, but it is there to view.

This weekend there will be no checkpoints on the highway. Personnel will be assigned at either end of the Chapala malecon.

The Delegado Juan Ramon has been asked to request the same for Ajijic.

I Think the Chapala Mayor and  Town officials have done a first class job for the last few months (even though the amount of virus infections were low in Jalisco) so why relax now when the infection rate is just booming in Mexico and to be clear is extremely high in Guadalajara. I just do not understand the strategy of relaxing the efforts now.

I am not sure why the road blocks were stopped, solely for economic reasons, or due to adverse court rulings about free access in-country.  I think a few weeks ago the road blocks went from "prove where you live" to simple health checks (temperature).

Bottom line:  CV is on  the rise in this area, as most of Mexico and over half of up north and much or the world.  People are slacking off with the precautions when they see things start opening up.  Some hospitals are now where Italy and NYC were 3 months ago!  People could have learned from those other mistakes!

Conspiracy theories confuse many folks, some of whom now won't cooperate with contact tracers because they think they are some kind of government plot to follow them or some weird thing.  We need to keep wearing the masks and staying home as much as possible until this is really  really over, not in someone's fantasy version of it.

While our numbers remain relatively low and stable, the rest of Mexico is not faring as well.

MEXICO CITY -- Mexico topped 30,000 COVID-19 deaths Saturday, overtaking France as the country with the fifth-highest death toll since the coronavirus outbreak began.

Officials reported 523 more confirmed coronavirus deaths for the day, bringing the nation's total to 30,366 for the pandemic. Mexico's total confirmed infections rose by almost 6,000 to 251,165, about on par with Spain, the eighth highest caseload.

Also Saturday, about 200 street vendors briefly blocked several major avenues in downtown Mexico City on Saturday to demand they be allowed to sell again amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The sidewalks of the colonial-era downtown are usually crowded with vendors who lay out their wares on wire racks or blankets. But since March, the city has banned such informal commerce and closed most established businesses in the district to stem the spread of the new coronavirus.

Protesting vendors carried signs and chanted slogans claiming they could no longer bear the lockdown. Most have no unemployment insurance, and after three months of not selling many are growing desperate.

Officials had allowed a partial reopening of downtown this week although virus cases continue to climb, but they reversed course Friday after a lack of sanitary measures were reported at some stores. While most customers and employees wore some form of face mask, many stores didn't reduce the number of clients allowed in or provide the required foot-wiping pads or sanitizer gel.

Lengthy post this morning at   https://www.facebook.com/pg/LagunaSemanario/posts/?ref=page_internal

Here are some of the highlights,

Quote

Four months from the presence of the COVID-19 pandemic in Jalisco, 19 of the 125 municipalities in which the state is divided, are without a single confirmed case of this disease, which extends in 106 municipal territories. However, only 69 municipalities report active cases on this day.

Active cases refer to those who started with symptoms in the last fourteen days and therefore represent a high risk of transmission of contacts, so monitoring is important. These are people who have manifested symptoms or are asymptomatic, they must be kept in home isolation.

The identification of positive cases and active cases throughout the entity is possible thanks to the RADAR Jalisco System, which continues to search for people suspected of having acquired coronavirus infection (SARS-CoV-2). Once identified , they are given attention and asked for isolation, while continuing the search for their contacts, to determine if it is also required to apply confirmatory test.

The pandemic follows the upward trend. The Ministry of Health Jalisco (SSJ) notified 664 new cases of COVID-19, thus accumulating 15,996 confirmed cases since last March where the first case was notified in the entity.

Of this total, to date there are 1,710 active cases (positive people who started with symptoms in the last fourteen days), which are distributed in 69 municipalities.

The SSJ also notified the federal platform 19 more deaths due to COVID-19 (deaths between July 02 and 05 of this year), adding up to 867 deaths confirmed by SARS-CoV-2. infection

Of the deaths in the state, 843 are residents of 54 municipalities of Jalisco; and 24 residents of other entities in the country who died here.

Municipalities

To date cases have been confirmed in 106 of the 125 municipalities of Jalisco; of which in 69 there are active cases, that is, people who started with symptoms in the last fourteen days.

In the RADAR Jalisco System, the ten municipalities with the most confirmed infections are: Guadalajara with 5,834 confirmed cases (36.47 percent); followed by Zapopan with 3,039 cases (19.00 percent), Tlaquepaque is in third place with 1,432 confirmed infections (8.95 percent); Puerto Vallarta ranks fourth with 1,026 cases (6.41 percent); followed by Tlajomulco de Zúñiga with 1,018 cases (6.36 percent) ), Tonalá with 916 cases (5.73 percent), El Salto with 416 cases (2.60 percent), Zapotlán the Great with 190 cases (1.19 percent), San Juan de Lagos with 150 cases (0.94 percent) and Ocotlan with 129 cases (0.81 percent). Check the full list of municipalities with positive SARS-CoV-2 people in Annexa table.

Confirmed cases are almost the same between men (52 percent) and women (48 percent). The most affected age groups are the 35 to 39 years with 12.5 percent, the 30 to 34 years with 12.1 percent, the 65 year old and more with 11.5 percent and 25 years old with 10.9 percent. For children and adolescents, there are 309 confirmed cases in children from zero to 15 years (2.0 percent)

Of the 15,996 confirmed cases, 85 percent have been handled outpatient (isolation at home) for having mild to moderate symptoms or being asymptomatic and 2,418 people have required hospitalization by COVID-19 ( 15 percent), of which 892 have been discharged for improvement, 860 percent for death, three high for recovery, five voluntary income, nine transfers to other states and 649 are internally in hospitals public and private.

Of patients hospitalized, today at noon were reported in stable condition (80), severe (477) and very serious (92).

HEALTH STAFF

So far there have been 457 positive cases of SARS-CoV-2 among health personnel (thirteen new cases today), whose contagion is associated with care provided in medical units. Of these, 124 correspond to the municipality of Puerto Vallarta, 274 to the municipality of Guadalajara, 274 to the municipality of Ocotlán, 19 to the municipality of Tepatitlán, two to the municipality of Colotlán; four to the municipality of Zapopan, thirteen to the municipality of Ocotlán from Ciudad Guzman, six to Tala municipality and five to the municipality of San Juan de los Lagos.

In all cases risk contacts are identified and kept under home isolation.

Do you need to leave home? Masks must be used at all times in public space and perfectly cover the tip of the nose and chin.
