SWhitehead
Can anyone recommend a good mechanic lakeside for a tun e up and oil change?
Mostlylost
Just a question. Cars have not required "tune ups" for many years. What maintenance do you need other than the oil change?
HoneyBee
I would recommend VELOZ/Salvatore in Jocotepec @ 331 752 0091. He is fluent in English and has every tool you could possibly dream of. Several years back he rebuilt my Toyota Tercel engine (sadly I had to take the car out of mexico)

Kyle
The mechanic next to Super Lake is very good and honest. He has helped me out several times and never takes advantage of me

RickS
I and others always recommend Felipe Morales at AutoCheck in Riberas. Very good English and very good, reliable and honest mechanic. 331-464-2324 Cell or 376-106-2188 Hidalgo #90A immediately west of TeleCable (Wizz). As for tune up the only normal thing required is to change spark plugs after a bunch of kilometers according to maintenance manual. Honda CRV called for 60K miles, I believe. sm1mex
Also recommend Felipe.
Intercasa
Many times you can buy the parts at Autozone and Synthetic oil on sale at Costco. Plugs, oil filter, air filter, gas filter, synthetic oil and maybe fuel injector cleaner, then find someone to change it all out. Your car will be very happy and you can control price and quality of parts. 2

I still enjoy doing those things myself, even at almost 80.

Go Solar
If in Chapala, either Goodyear Chapala (Fuentes Pena, Antonio & son, Antonio) or on the other side of the highway, Ron Young or his brother, also they are VW specialists. My mechanic Moy restored practically everything on my 1980 Renault 5[Le Car]. Even had to make a tool and other parts because replacements couldn't be found. he works with a group of others that do welding, exhaust, upholstery.carb and bodywork. Didn't charge me the" special price" like some mechanics do here. They repair and not just replace like REAL mechanics do. I was happily surprised at what his rates are including the other associates too when needed. He is in Riberas on the lateral mountain side 3 buildings west of Parker Insurance and east of the 711.
