You're right, no one is forcing me to go there. Who said they were? I'm glad you're happy with the new hospital, that doesn't mean everyone has to be. Although I am glad it's there I wouldn't rely on it for anything very serious. Thanks for your input Pedro but you need to read the posts more carefully and think more clearly before you reply. $1000p is what you said and if you think the price for a fine dinner in a restaurant "was much higher". Really? And now you're adding that you were unhappy with the service as well. As Howie Meeker would say: golly gee willakkers!
Alfa
We had an emergency at 0200 hrs Monday morning and went to the emergency clinic at HSA. Was treated, spent an hour, and received a 440 peso bill. The doctor, who was not a specialist, did what he could and referred my wife to a specialist. It's a great place with great staff at every level. Unfortunately my last usage. At 11pm, I needed to be taken there by Cruz Roja ambulance and after emerge doc consulted with my Cardio who instructed her to give me an ECG, which results she sent him over phone, I was admitted and the next day seen by my Cardio's associate even though they only have privileges there. The food was good too.
#HarryB
I was in Sat hospital for surgery...in the bed with the iv started when one of the nurses noticed one of my meds. Surgery cancelled. A week later, back in the hospital and shoulder surgery with a specialist who only does joints. Surgery went well. 9p.m.I asked for food. 10:30 I told them I was diabetic and if I didn't get fed, I was WALKING OUT! 10:30 I got minimal nourishment and took my diabetes meds. At that time, I asked for a sleeping pill as per my records, which came an hour and a half later.. During my 24 hours there , they never checked my sugar level or offered meds. As my records show blood pressure meds, they never checked my blood pressure nor offered med The doctors were good and attentive, but, the hospital itself could have been deadly Once out l sent an extended email of my experiences which has never been answered.
happyjillin
Conversely my BP, and blood/glucose were monitored manually, regularly and the IV apparatus also monitored my BP and blood/oxygen as long as I was hooked up to it. I was given my meds as requested by my Cardio as per his instructions. My meals were delivered in a timely manner. All hospital diabetic food in any hospital is crap so I request my doc to tell them to give me regular food which they did and my BG was just fine. If your BP shows within normal range on the monitor which runs constantly there is no need for BP meds.

I highly recommend their Mexican omelet also available in the cafeteria. When Yvonne saw me scarfing mine she went to the cafeteria to get one too. 1
Jeraldina
On 4/29/2020 at 10:56 PM, Eric Blair said: Five points I would mention. 1. Very few insurance companies will cover anything but critical emergencies in Mexico.I think there is one plan that does. My ex g/f got some cosmetic surgery here several years ago. The doctor wrote it up as something else, and she got reimbursed. Often a hospital will simply tell you to pay and they will assist you in trying to get a reimbursement. 2. There is very little that can be done if a doctor/hospital in Mexico makes a mistake (MedMal). 3. Remember, a hospital may not hold you "hostage" if you can't pay the bill, or get someone to pay it. 4. If you are covered by Medicare or something in Canada, depending on the seriousness of diagnose and treatment plan, I personally would return to my home country where IMO, there are better facilities and accountability. 5. If we are talking something really major, set a second opinion, and I suggest you don't say you were told by Dr. X that (whatever). Rarely will one doctor say another one is wrong. It's the doctor's "Code of Silence." I had that happen here to me with a dentist that ended up being responsible for me to have to go to a hospital in Guadalajara for invasive treatment. No, I did not try to sue, nor do I piss into the wind. That's interesting you say "No, I did not try to sue, nor do I piss into the wind." I'm looking at trying to find a lawyer to go into mediation with a nursing home who neglected to hydrate my husband, resulting in a severe bladder infection, then changing a catheter, profuse bleeding. And I mean profuse. He went to ER in GDL, where they allegedly discovered another problem, then, after a colonoscopy and antibiotics, had a heart attack and needed CPR for 20 minutes. Si I can't go after the nursing home? Its pissing in the wind?

Jeraldina, your postings are suspicious because on another Topic you were full of praise for re locating your husband from Thailand to Mexico . I am no medical Doctor but your husband seems to have major medical issues for which you are blaming the nursing home for. You should have know if you have done any research........... that many/most MX NH at Lakeside have minimal number of qualified nurses and many of those were qualified donkeys years ago. I am sorry for your husbands dire condition which could have been precipitated by the long journey from Thailand. Perhaps you can share the cost of the NH in Thailand
Denise Fuentes
I recently had a very bad experience with San Antonio Hospital. I was seen in emergency for a ruptured appendix. I was taken to the operating room, sedated, and prepared for surgery. A non sterile man walked in with a clipboard and demanded $3000 US to get started. Someone went into my purse a retrieved a contaminated credit card for me to pay and helped themself to the $3500 peso I had brought with me. I spent 4 days there and before it was over I was diagnosed with a heart condition, a psychiatric condition, a blood pressure/vascular condition and pneumonia. I had none of these and have never had any of these. This ran my bill up quite a bit. I think they are running a scam there and would advise anyone to go to a public hospital. I’ve read reviews about the same type of money grabbing, insurance fraud and basic unethical conduct. Beware! 1 5
