dencol
This was from a Chapala Facebook group. I am posting this from a reliable source. We are posting here because we care about our Lakeside friends. Here is the latest news that I received from a reliable source. Maritza To all of our clients and rentals, Just wanted to pass along some information to make sure you are aware of the current situation of the coronavirus here in Mexico, specifically here at Lakeside. We were in shock to find out that so many Americans and Canadians were not even aware of the Governor of Jalisco announcement last Friday asking for a 5-day lock-down…. That we thought maybe it is best to let you know when we have local information available. You are probably aware but it is official that as of this morning, Tuesday, March 24th, it was announced that we now have the first positive case of COVID-19 here at Lakeside. An ex-pat from San Juan Cosala (who travelled to Colorado for a ski trip). As we know, the person is in the Jocotepec hospital and that there are a number of other suspected cases that are currently being analyzed. It is said that the local municipal government of Jocotepec will be making some announcements later today about new measures such as closing the malecon in Jocotepec, etc. Here in Mexico, the President announced this morning at 7 a.m., that Mexico is now in the Phase II of the spread of the virus. What does this mean? It means that the virus is now spreading amongst local people, not necessarily a person that recently travelled to a country where the virus is present or has been exposed to a person who recently travelled to a country where the virus is present. The bottom line is that now any of us can catch the virus. There are currently 367 coronavirus cases in Mexico (this is as of 7 p.m. March 23rd). The Federal Government announces every day at 7 p.m. the update/status of cases. There are 4 death so far and currently there are over 850 cases that as suspected and currently being analyzed. The Level II is also directly more specifically at ANYONE OVER THE AGE OF 60 and ANY PREGNANT WOMAN, anyone over 60 that has a heart problem, chronic disease or diabetic as well as any pregnant woman is ASKED TO STAY HOME. All bars, casino, theatres, public parks, zoos, etc. should now be closed. Restaurants are asked to downsize the limit of people and opt for home delivery or take-out. The President also announced this morning that the Armed Forces will also be opening all of its facilities and availability of medical staff to the entire population of Mexico. The Federal Government also announced yesterday, March 23 a new program called SUSANA DISTANCIA. That all people should keep a distance of 1.5 to 1.8 meters amongst each other when out in public (or approx. 5 feet). People are also asked to limit their level of social activity and when you have to be in any social activities to respect the distance. You will be seeing more and more of these measures when you go to grocery stores, etc. Most banks have already reduced or limited their services and more NON-ESSENTIAL services will be closed. The GOVERNOR OF JALISCO yesterday announced that the airport of Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta are closed to any flights coming from a country/state/province that have closures due to the virus, that means such places as Canada, Europe, California, New York, Washington, Argentina, El Salvador, Guatemala and many other south American destinations. The Consulates of Canada in Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta as well as the U.S. Consulate in Guadalajara are CLOSED. All Canadians and Americans wishing to return back home are to contact their respective Embassies in Mexico City or on-line. The Governor of Jalisco will also be meeting on Thursday of this week with the surrounding 5 states to seek cooperation with them to seek the same level of responsibility or to seek ways to close access to Jalisco. Jackie
Happy, I totally agree .. IF this was verified information - a true fact should include how the information was obtained and from what person in a responsible postion confirmed the case situation., Certainly the speaker of this information would gladly include all this info including who they are. Unless that is provided, it is an un-verified statement . The medical person, in authority, in the video certainly seems to be a more reliable believeable source, than an anonymous source .
