How to Get a Naturalization Letter?

So, we live in Queretaro and have been refused a policy renewal from Seguro Popular at both the General Hospital and the main office in Centro. Only with a naturalization letter they said. At the SP office, I asked if we can get IMSS and they said no - same requirement.

Anyone know what's involved in getting a naturalization letter? Also wondering if doing so would affect our Canadian pensions.

Thanks in advance.

All socialized medicine systems in Mexico are available to legal residents   -  if they qualify for IMSS - if not they qualify to join the Seguro Popular - under rights of legal immigrant residents in  the  SEGOB  -  INM 2011 Immigration Law. This includes Residente Permanentes and Residente Temporal residents.  Any state, city or hospital where Seguro Popular is denied to any legal resident is breaking this law and the federal Secretaria de Salud federal law and federal anti-discrimination law. Report them to the Secretaria de Salud administration office in the Seguro Popular hospital you are applying at. You will need the place, date, time and the employees name to report them. Take a copy of the above law with you. Even if the employee was instructed by higher ups the investigation you iniciate will reach those whom have incorporated a policy illegally in their particular sector of the federally administrated by Secretaria de Salud federal employees and federally funded Seguro Popular. IMSS also is administrated and mostly - some fee funded - funded by the federal government Secretaria de Salud and both have to follow federal laws without discrimination. Your 16 percent IVA taxes and any SAT taxes you pay fund it.

"Servicios de Salud" of the state of Queretaro are breaking 3 federal laws discriminating against legal foreign residents of Mexico by refusing to enrol them in federally funded socialized medicine in their state. Report the clerk who refused you to join to the federal "Sectretaria de Salud" administration office in the Seguro Popular hospital. Take a copy of this above federal law. It doesn't matter who instructed her to break the 3 federal laws as they will be investigated along with the clerk. Know your rights as a legal resident.

A naturalization letter would be a copy of the document stating that you are a naturalized Mexican Citizen.   Canadians are allowed to hold dual citizenship with Mexico. It is a lengthy process. 1st requirement is either be married to a Mexican for 2 years or to have lived in Mexico for 5 years.

I agree with AlanMexacali. You are entitled under federal law if you are a llegal resident of Mexico. Download a copy of the law (in Spanish) and present it at Seguro Popular if you are told you need to be a citizen when you go for renewal.  Possibly you might want the services of an attorney.

In several states one must be a citizen to obtain Seguro Popular. This includes the states of QRO and  Guanajuato. Several of my clients go to Puerto Vallarta where Teresa who manages by business is able to obtain 3 years of SP. Coverage is national.

At least in Guanajuato state I am told some time in December  Permanent Residents may apply for Seguro Popular.

The only one who will gain in challenging it will be the person who you pay to ask.

In some states such as Nayarit the rules even vary from one SP office to another.
