Reliable Uber Driver

Recommended Posts

There is no way to choose an "Uber driver" When you open the app and ask for ride the computer estimates your fare and time to pickup and destination. If you click to proceed the computer selects your driver, then sends you the drivers picture, car, license plate, ETA. The driver receives your information & picture. When the ride is over Uber bills your CCard for the fare and any tip you might select.

Uber drivers, their licenses, vehicle, and insurance are pre-screened by Uber. Also all the information of your ride is preserved on Uber's servers. In the event of a problem all that information is available to the authorities.

If you can call an individual they are not making that ride as an Uber driver. Buyer beware.

There is a way to "get around" these problems, get the guy you want and all the standard protections. The Uber guy must agree.

1. Call the driver ahead of time. Arrange the time and pickup point.

2. Once driver arrives request an Uber. Calls go to closest driver which will be your guy since he's already there.

As an Uber guy after retiring, frequently, I'd get a person who needed to get to work every morning at the same time. I simply promised to be there at the prescribed time and when customer requested a ride, the ride went to closest driver...me! Everything went through Uber. Everybody is happy.

Yes... if that driver is willing to drive free  and wait near your pickup location and wait for you will call for a pickup.  If it is an active driver they well could receive a different order and they would have to turn it down.  If you turn down orders you will be put lower on the list with Uber.  Also if the other order was for a better trip ....say estimated fare to airport for $350 with high possibility of short wait time for another ride would they pass to take your trip to take it??   The way an Uber driver makes any money is a high volume of rides.  Dead driving and waiting lowers the number of rides.

Most Uber drivers would jump at the chance for a guaranteed daily run!

If yours is a one time thing, not likely someone would opt to go to the trouble. Uber drivers are vetted as are clients. Just as with taxi drivers, the vast majority are great.
