Zeb
Looking for referral to a Gynocologist. I have been to Dr. Elodia who is very good, however, I need a second opinion. I called Quality Care and they charge 800 pesos, definitely a gringo price. Anyone have other recommendations?
pappysmarket
Hmmm....800 pesos is a "gringo" price? It sounds very reasonable to me for a competent Ob/Gyn but perhaps if you are not a gringo you could negotiate a better price with the local back-alley practitioner. 5 1
barcelonaman
I moan on many gringo prices lakeside, but to be fair 800 is reasonable. I compare prices in guadalajara and 600 pesos to see a specialist is the norm. So 800 for here isnt bad. However theres a couple who charge 1000 , 1200 .thats gringo rip off here.
Newjersey expat
I have been going to the gyne -ob doctor at Quality Care for many years. No problem referring her for your second opinion. Dr. Illiana amos Morales,. Prices are going up all over. Last year's $700 visit is now $800. I think we are paying for the convenience of not having to necessarily go to Quad for specialists. So I paid $40 US for a full body skin examination. There is a non specialist doctor who charged 1200p and did really nothing but ask questions . That I feel was somewhat overcharge for the service. jguerin
I don't mind to pay 800.P not to have to go to Guad. but when they say they don't do factura, I think it is a little abusive. This happened to me yesterday.
barcelonaman
Nj expat. If thats the same bloke from near bp station, i had a similar experience a few years ago. Told me how great he was etc etc, couple of mins if exam, told me i was stressed, which i told him, and his verdict was to do something that i probably shouldn't repeat hear. My partner and i did know wether to laugh or punch him. Certainly never going to the new hospital under construction. 1 1

This happened to me yesterday. They will give you a receipt other than factura which is good for Canada Revenue. Abusive is a rather over the top word for what you describe. sm1mex
If you have Mexican insurance, they require a factura. If you ask for one a provider must give you a factura. It is the law.

Has nothing to do with your Mexican insurance.

Its pretty sad that a GP doctor in Mexico only makes enough to pay for rent, certainly not enough to buy a house. All the big money goes to the specialists and often times it's the GP that discovers a life threatening condition requiring the expensive surgeries and hospital care. Veterinarian is a much better profession here because they can sell so many other things ( food, toys etc )

traderspoc
do not make price the issue, you want the best, the best can charge a little more, they may have a waiting list practice with lost of referrals. your health more important than trying to save 300 pesos. 15 dollars
Yo1
If they refuse to give you a factura it's because they are not claiming your payment on their income declaration and not paying taxes on it. If I pay my taxes, I want them to pay theirs.
