R.I.P. Maskaras Clinic.

Recommended Posts

This is strictly an FYP post. I'm not looking for comments, just to give information that might help or be of interest. I have posted everything I know to date.

===========================================================

Maskaras clinic is permanently closed, stripped out and being renovated and a "For Rent" sign on the building.

Dr. Garcia and some other providers, have associated with the new San Antonio Hospital. Dr. Garcia has an office there.

Maskaras Clinic was started by Dr. Garcia, decades ago and was a hit, but times and competition took its toll.

Sad to say that one of the providers/staff who worked at Maskaras, left owing a large debt of back rent. Also, patients who paid in advance for services and product, are left in the cold. They can't get their product because the lab wasn't paid and the provider is M.I.A. Add to this that everything inside the office of the M.I.A. provider appears to have been embargoed by the attorney for the landlord. Spencer can explain that one.

You DO know, don't you, that the Maskaras group (with or without outside $$   ??) are the ones who built the new hospital?  So of course they are going to move there.  And of course they would not keep the old facility open.

No knowledge, therefore no comment, on the rest of your post.

No, I didn't know that Maskaras was involved in building the new hospital. Not that it's important, but I would guess there had to be some outside money due to the overall costs or not just the building, but the equipment.

On the rest of my post, I did check it out directly with persons involved. Sad situation.

May be sad to you, but has absolutely nothing to do with Dr. Garcia or Maskaras Clinic. They are done and gone. New hospital was very busy this morning with patients and medical specialists from GDL. It is run by a Board of Directors of which Dr. Garcia is a well respected and highly regarded, influential member as he was one of the primary people responsible for the creation of the hospital.

Maybe  apologize to Dr. Garcia  for this. Times and competition obviously did not take its toll. He and his clinic were so successful the group built a new hospital and moved into it as planned and well known about for more than a year.

This is the kind of erroneous information that gets life when people post on topics they don´t know what they are talking about.

The group, including Dr. Garcia,  have been struggling to get to this point for years, and finally it has happened.

You are absolutely correct, and I back-step in implying that time and competition took its toll. I was thinking of the member of the staff of Makaras that didn't go w/him and has left several patients out-in-the-cold, having paid money and not received what they paid for.

As I posted a moment ago, I misspoke.

Sorry.

He was not part of the "staff",  he just happened to rent a portion of the same facility, from the same owner, that Dr. Garcia and others also rented from, including Chopo labs , Farmacia Maskaras, etc., etc.

Get informed, before you start making assumptions.

With all due respect, I made no assumptions, and I did fact check. Dr. Garcia/Makaras Clinic put out print ads that listed 15 members of the "Staff" of the clinic.  A clinic is a healthcare facility that is primarily focused on the care of outpatients and is usually staffed by medical professionals of different disciplines. And the healthimage.png.d6972e16e42df0f71c894ebb3c5b74fc.pngcare professional that did not go to or become associated with the hospital had some very negative reviews over the last couple of years.

That kinda cut his water off, didn't it? :D

I liked Dr. Garcia as a person, had his insurance plan for a couple of years. Felt like he had way too many patients to try and focus on. Moved to a different doc but always had kind words with him whenever we bumped into each other. Fine person, just not my idea of my doctor.

I believe Dr. Garcia is not just a good doctor (I saw the plaques on his office wall), but he also knows the value of following through on his words. Good policy, good P.R.

You must have missed all the architectural plans on the walls that started to fade after such a long time.

So, what is the contact info for the new hospital?  Are the same Drs. there?

Phone number is on the bottom; likely the same doctors but if you are after a specific one call and see what day they are at the hospital.

Once you post something online, then people are entitled to their opinions and their maybe very informed opinions.

That is an old anuncio.  He WAS associated with the clinic but that was severed sometime ago.  He has had his own receptionist and you did not pay at the Maskaras reception area for him for some time.  Most definitely, he isn´t associated with the new hospital.

Even you acknowledged that he owed back rent which had nothing to do with Dr. Garcia at the time that the other Dr´s moved.  If you are going to fault and hold them accountable for their past association with him then every one has something to be concerned about.  He, and he alone, is responsible for his own actions or malpractice.

Amigos;

I said at the beginning, I put this post up strictly for any FYI basis.

Everyone, including me, got caught up in the ground chatter.

I put Dr. Garcia in the Top 10 for his work. I sat in his office and told him the issues that he might want to check on. Past that point, it's academic on anything else. He is IMO, a good guy.

I have learned over the years, to do my due diligence and try to be informed before making a post. I know a lot more of the story and details regarding the health care professional who skipped out leaving creditors. employees of over two decades of service to him, hanging without pay,  and some patients losing substantial sums of money they advanced for lab work. This is where I place responsibility.

I respectfully suggest this post has outlived its purpose.

I would most humbly suggest you ask a mod to lock a thread you post for which you desire no comment. Otherwise, since this is a public forum, you can not control other posters and stop them from commenting. If you are posting a topic for FYI it would be wise to first insure  your information is a) accurate and b) saying what you actually mean to say. You did not get caught up in ground chatter (whatever that is). You made a mistake, a big one. You misspoke. You DID NOT do your due diligence. If you had you would not now be needing to backpedal. Finally, you might in future not conflate two topics in one post thus painting with the same brush an excellent and successful doctor with what appears to be a deadbeat simply because they worked in the same building.

I used Dr Garcia as a doctor ten years ago, he showed his plans for the hospital to me  and my wife back then.

Because of his vision and hard work, and his love for his fellow man,  a hospital has been built.

it may cost more money for services.,

but many people will be helped much quicker, maybe even save a few lives along the way.

It may be your neighbors life that gets saved.

Thank you Dr Garcia for dream come true.

Maybe a few people may even save a few bucks in taxi fares and gas, and to avoid the trip to Guadalajara.

Xena, if I ask the Mod to lock a thread, then in the event I have mi-spoken or made an error, it can't be pointed out.

I did the best due diligence I could; I used my own experience and information from those directly involved and on the inside.

As to your points critical of me me, I will paraphrase a man who I believe to have been a great person. "Let those among you who have never made a mistake, never misspoken, never had to apologize for something said or done; who has never said something that they believed but later found out wasn't accurate, cast the first aspersion.

Eric, people could just start a new thread pointing out your errors. Or, you can just accept that using a public forum means people will comment on what you post. It will not always agree with you or be what you want to hear but it is part of participating in a public forum.

I am thinking of a brilliant person who said (and I am paraphrasing here): ”Let those among us who continue to make mistake after mistake, constantly misspeak (often about the same topics), are always apologizing for something they say or do, who never seem to learn that what they believe too often is not accurate but plow ahead anyway, accept that they will continue to be corrected, their mistakes pointed out, and they would do better to wake up and smell the coffee instead of whining about aspersions being cast upon them.” Something like that.
