Metuchenmama
My car drives fine all day until the next morning when it cannot start. It doesn't even turn over or click. It can be jump started I need a person who is an auto electrical specialist to find the cause and fix it.. An excellent mechanic has tried but cannot find the problem. This has gone on for two weeks and I need my car. Thanks.
HarryB
had this once--turned out to be wet/ dew soaked wires.
cedros
Metuchenmama what area is better for you?
Metuchenmama
Thanks Harry but this has been going on for two weeks. I don't think they would be wet that long.. We no longer have a lot of rain. I will see that gets checked as a possibility. I just spoke to the mechanic. They had cleaned everything including the wires and they are dry. Metuchenmama
Cedros I can go anywhere from Chapala to Jocotopec. I live in San Antonio.
Paco Loco
Sounds like you have a an old battery that won’t hold a charge overnight. Replace it.
ronhereagain
Either that or something is using battery power slowly overnight, maybe check to see if an interior or trunk light or even an under the hood light is staying on (it happened to me more than once). ronhereagain
I would suggest disconnecting the battery overnight just to see if the car starts the following morning.
barrbower
Could be an old battery, could be a bad ground, could be an alternator, could be corrosion on the terminals. Any decent mechanic should be able to solve the problem but if the mechanic replaces an item and it doesn't solve the problem, make sure he will stand by his work and not just start replacing things until he finds the problem. Oatsie
I'd suggest that you talk to Roberto (Beto) at Hernandez - right beside Tony's. Get directions to Roberto's brother's auto electric shop in Chapala... near the train station. If it's electrical... Jaime can fix it. He speaks English....
mudgirl
That's happened to me a couple of times. Both times it was the battery- needed to be replaced.

Alan I agree, another simple test is with the car running disconnect the battery. If it continues to run the alternator is doing its job. Another easy check is to remove the ground cable and put a circuit tester between the cable and post, if the light comes on you have a draw. gringohombre
Please do not listen to all the soothsayers pontificating here. Jaime who is mentioned above has moved from San Antonio to Chapala. His card says Servicio de Auto Electrico y Diagnostico and his cell phone is 333-137-5977. You would not go to a podiatrist for a heart problem.

TechnoNorm
I would go to LTH on the caratera in Riberas de Pilar. They can quickly determine if battery & alternator are OK. IF they are good, then one does need an auto electric technician. Examining the car, when it is dark, to see if a light is draining the battery is logical.

The automatic sliding rear passenger door would occasionally almost close but suddenly slide open again. The GM dealer in Oshawa Ont. couldn't fix it and called in a "specialist" from Flint Michigan. He couldn't either. We drove it down here that winter and Jaime fixed it in an hour. Nuff said !
Intercasa
Can be a couple of things..... Does battery have water levels filled? Easy to open and check although if low for too long cells can be damaged. Autozone can test for free. Is the alternator bad? Autozone can test for free. Is a light or device staying on? I had a short and the rear A/C blower fan would stay on after truck turned off. Cheap fix was to pull rear A/C fuse.

Just drive uup and go and ask for test. They will do it in the car and show you the test. They will replace it if needed quickly. They did this to my dying battery 2 months age.

Orygun Duck
My car battery is completely dead - beyond the capability of either my portable charger or my newly-purchased battery tender/charger. Left the car for three months in my garage. Battery is one year old and still under warranty from Nissan. Any ideas who I could call to come out for a jump start? Thanks in advance for suggestions. Orygun Duck
Thanks. We live in Villanova. Few of our friends have cables and the ones that do have real jobs in the daytime. I'll try some of the repair shops. We just arrived in town last night and need transportation.
