gatita
Does anybody have any suggestions for fantastic molcajetes in Ajijic or Chapala?
WideSky
So you want the dish or the food that comes in the dish? If it is food then perhaps this post is better suited in the La Cocina section If it is the dish you will likely find at the Wednesday Tianguis in Ajijic. camillenparadise
Too bad Antonio outside Cajititlan passed away a couple of years ago...he had absolutely the best and most unique. Suggest you research the villages on the other side of the lake there for artisans who produce the best and one-of-a-kinds. Sunday is the best day, but the food at the malecon comes with dreadful and earbursting noise.

Hud
We bought ours in Tonala, they usually have a good selection of sizes on Thursdays.
ComputerGuy
If you mean the bubbling, cheesy, fantastic food, the best I've had is Mariscos Guicho, Ramon Corona 20, Chapala: the first restaurant of about seven that extend out at the east end of the malecon, before you get to the yacht club. Casita de Moljcajetes used to be my favourite, but they changed their cheese, and it's not the same.

el bartman
I did see some in San Juan Cosalá in front of the store on the east side of the first lights as you come into town from the east.
ComputerGuy
I believe it's time that gatita (the OP) came back and told us exactly what she is looking for, no?
gatita
I am asking for a recommendation for a restaurant where I can find the molcajete dish, as in food to eat. Thank you!
Ferret
And if you're ever in San Pancho, go to La Ola Rica. Awesome molcajete and my hubby always ordered it.

The best one for the last 22 years has been Guichos . You can order shrimp, beef, chicken or mixto or any combination. Comes with melted cheese in it and it is hot as molten lava when it comes out. Makes some sense to start with a campachana of shrimp and oysters. When you get to the signal light in Chapala turn right. Go to the end and bear round to the left and go to the end of the parking and turn into the parking lot on your right. You are at Guichos, at the first building. ComputerGuy
Not to be confused with the very-local campechano taco style.
