Racquet Club

Recommended Posts

The Raquet Club chained and locked that gate Tuesday afternoon. It was not a move by Carlos. Carlos cut the chain so his players could enter. A chain and lock were back on that gate this morning so Carlos could not notify the players in time. Carlos called the Jocotepec police in. Most (all?) players stayed away.  Tug of war between Carlos and the Board. You can enter by the main entrance but you might have to pay there.

If you are not a resident of the club you should pay to play.. the club NOT CARLOS!!!!.please keep it locked!!!!

The contract between the Raquet Club clearly states that the players pay Carlos not the Raquet Club as his backers paid thousands to make the clay courts. Carlos pays the RC a portion of his earnings. But it was a security breach to have the players from outside the Raquet Club entering the Club grounds through the back gate thus bypassing the office security. The reason it was set up so that the players entered through the back gate was that the players liked to play before it got to hot. The back entrance entrance was open at 7 am. The main entrance to the RC where the office security is doesn't not open until hours later. The opening time for the office for years has been uncertain as they are usually late.

The problem is that Carlos does not disclose how many players he has and the consensus is that he does not pay the full dues

Where on earth did you come up with that explanation and what constitutes your supposed consensus?

There has been a long battle going on between the current administration and the tennis enterprise funded by many investors to rebuild the courts destroyed by neglect and then the water spout many years ago. The problem has nothing to do with security.

There was a daily journal kept of all cash receipts collected every day by one of Carlos' assistants.

Everyone that plays on the clay and pickeball courts hopes the situation gets resolved amicably and soon. Without proper maintenance the courts will deteriorate rapidly.

Carlos claims he won't turn in his receipts as the RC Board won't sign for them (because some of the people who should sign for them weren't elected to the Board?). For awhile the RC had a security guard posted at the back gate to the tennis courts-I assume to count the players using the courts. Since they could not get the figures from Carlos they would collect it themselves? Around and around it goes.

In any event I suspect most RC residents are happy that outsiders can't bypass security  by entering through the unguarded back gate. It was a strange setup. These non RC people could access the grounds several hours earlier than RC residents could get access through the main gate.

Now to get the courts going again.

There's a lot more to the story than you know. In the mean time there's no games on the clay/pickleball courts and that's sad.

Non RC people pass through the front gate going up the hill where they are logged in by security who take your name and destination as tennis.

Sadly it seems that there are significant differences between The Board and Snr Carlos...then lots of recriminations....I think the clay courts are a great addition to the RC.....If "we" cannot solve this "small" issue then what hope do we have for NAFTA negotiations!!!!    or maybe we should invite those persons to come and play and maybe solve the problem

Carlos would be a fool to turn in his receipts without a signature from a RC board member.  He must have a good attorney.

No one playing tennis today. The RC welded the back gate shut. Carlos broke the weld. The RC cut off Carlos' water. I hear both sides are preparing lawsuits.

How sad. How about Carlos keeping the "originals" of the receipts and giving the RC copies of those receipts? That keeps them both honest. I'm sure there's other issues though but co-operation would be a step in the right direction since neither side trusts the other.

How sad, how very sad that in this "paradise" there has to be a problem that cannot be resolved without going down the litigation route......Methinks that there has to be some "foreign" intervention behind all this...Maybe the tentacles of the Moscow mafia have penetrated Lakeside
