A "normal" consult with a G.P. ten years ago was $250 pesos. In the last year or so it went to $300. A specialist is anywhere from $600 to $800 these days.  I doubt a "newbie's" comments are going to change the standard.  I have noticed that the current crop of newbies seem to be unusually ignorant about life in Mexico in general and it is rumored that they  got their information from Facebook.  If so, there will be a lot of topes in their road to adjustment to the reality here.

My comment will make it more expensive? I would think that the market makes the rules and if all the hospitals that are being planned to open do actually open there will be competition unless there is collusion. I read a post on one board from a local doctor who asked if he should by an Audi A7. Apparently business must be very good at the prices you speak of. I cant afford an audi A7. I do compare things with my own country just as you did when you first arrived. I guess its a habit to think in terms of dollars since i Have been dealing with that form of currency for 55 years. I promise I will never do it again. Scouts honor. Wouldn't want my post to raise prices for all Lakeside residents. I didn't know all the lakeside doctors read these posts. If they are all I can say to them is that your prices for medical services are too high. Hope that helps.

Have been using Dilabim for many years, in the same center and have been very happy. Normal blood and urine test results are emailed the next day and cannot see how the costs could be much lower.

The  QC internist I recommended is Dra Ana Gabriela Flores. She comes in from Guad on a regular schedule. Dra Carla Flores is a QC medicina interna and she makes house calls. She was sent to our house once when we had n emergency. I din't know if she has office appointments, but maybe.

My wife and I are planning a trip to Guadalajara to get some medical tests done.  Dr. Briseno is the cardiologist we'd like to make contact with based on the positive reviews we've read online.  I'm hoping someone can provide his contact information (phone number and email address) or the contact information (phone number and email address) of Quality Care.

I posted above that the site that lists the website for quality care itself is not working and I warned people not to go there. Their website on the page you posted is.

I highly recommend no one go to it becuase it is corrupted and my firewall (Norton) stopped an attack from that website and instead  as I advised, send an email requesting info like I did to the email address posted on the page you posted.

Don't worry about the general comments. You're always going to have naysayers, regardless of the topic. It's normal to compare prices to the US since that's your home country. Eventually, you'll find a balance. Shop around, check out the various docs and go where you're comfortable. You'll see high end for here (specialists out of Guad, usually) and low end and everything in between. When we need routine care, we go to Ajijic Clinic (Clinica Ajijic). We absolutely love Dr. Rodriguez. His fees are reasonable, the care is excellent, and he's very, very patient-oriented. For anything more specific (cardio, ortho, etc), we're really lucky in that we have access to all sorts of specialists here. If one isn't available, Guad isn't that far away.

I can highly recommend the new lab, had tests done: professional, quick, good care!

The doctors I have visited at Quality Care are: Dr. Hector Briseño (Cardiologist) and Dr. Ignacio Garcia (Rheumatologist). Both great doctors and highly recommended.

My only wish is that people would use Pesos when they talk about cost of services and NOT US dollars. The doctors get paid in Pesos.

That is what I thought too glws7777. But when I had my first (and so Far, only) stent inserted and installed in a major artery on Jan 6 of this year, Dr Garcia Garcia quoted me a price of $4,000 US dollars and I paid him writing a US check (from my B of A account) for the amount of $4,000 US dollars . The hospital in Guadalajara, where the surgery was done, charged me in Mexican pesos for their share of the costs.

All my doctors including my excellent Cardiologist charge me in pesos as do any other medical services including hospitals. I pay the hospital using my Intercam debit card and the Doctors who did their thing on me in the hospital prefer a cheque which is also from my Intercam account. Spell check should learn real English instead of putting a red squiggly under the word cheque.

I am sure what you post is the normal procedure, I only posted my experience, because I, like you, have been here quite a few years. And this is the first time I can remember that I was charged in US dollars. In my case, no big deal, because I happen to have an active US checking (bank) account.

I'm guessing that Dr. Ramon Garcia Garcia wants US Dollars because the peso is so low compared to dollars. He also doesn't have to declare it to the government and pay Mexican taxes on that $$ when it is in US dollars. He probably also may have a bank account somewhere in the US that he can forward those US checks to for deposit. Just for reference purposes, he is also my husband's cardiologist and I am in no way bashing him for doing this.  It is a new practice for him, I agree and a sign of the current economy.

Recent great experience there with urologist Dr. Fabian Garcia Buenrostro. Had recurring urinary tract infections, and with other doctors prescribing normal antibiotics it kept returning. After  some in depth testing he prescribed a regimen of 2 kinds of more powerful antibiotics along with a series of 5 daily shots (do not know what). The infection was completely cured and then he prescribed 2 medications to take daily for 6 months everything is going along great. As the old saying goes "Peeing like a race horse" again.

I went to QC and seen Dr ignacio Valaderas and they charged 800 pesos since it was my first visit. He was very professional and kept in touch almost every day since on our progression. Very good. I believe the use of US insurances may be the reason some doctors charge in Dollars. My wife thinks I am crazy but I usually ask what the charge is before I go. (Scottish blood)
