JoeM
The catalytic converter light has come on so I possibly need a new one. Any idea on where to get this diagnosed? Joe in Riberas

ComputerGuy
At the risk of sounding perhaps too blunt, why don't you just go to a mechanic and ask, like everyone else? It's not like there's a Catalytic Converter Store.
mudgirl
Most Mexicans just chop them out of the system when they go bad and re-weld the pipes without it. Guess that wouldn't pass an emissions test, though. Couldn't figure out why that light was always on since I bought my Mex. plated second hand vehicle. My mechanic looked and said, that's cause there's no converter there anymore.
Go Solar
Joe, it is more likely just an emissons sensor (o2 sensor) than the converter itself. Relatively inexpensive to diagnose and replace one of those....don't get taken. Escalera in the Riberas area, or possibly check at the muffler shop 1 block north of Soriana. modeeper
Consider you're on a battlefield and you have a wounded arm that's turning green and smelling rank. So you ask your buddy next you, "Look at this, what should I do?" And he will say something like: "Hell if I know I'm just a PFC, let's just chop it off for now."
