Poe Bango
Hey Spencer - you out there? How long a period can I leave Mexico without losing my permanente status? Is it 6 months? Someone mentioned to me yesterday that they are changing it to 3 months. Thanks!

AngusMactavish
Total period of continuous absence from Mexico may be three continuous years. Total period of continuous absence from Mexico may be five continuous years within a period of ten years. http://visasmex.com/Eng/mexican_visas/Residence/permanent.html I have read the same thing in other places, but this was the first I could find in a quick search. If you look at the date (Bottom right side) it's dated 2008.. So that info is about ten years old.. It still amazes me why people ask such important questions on this forum. Why not go to INM and get the latest most uptodate info right from the people that matter...?
RVGRINGO
They will smile, look you over carefully, determine what you want to hear, and then tell you exactly what you want to hear.......with a “quisas“ attached somewhere. Then, you will rush home, post what you think was said on several boards and create an “I heard“ gospel to the ignorant and linquistically handicapped audience of ten, who will, or course, repeat it as empirical fact. Then, the arguments begin.
Hud
I think you need to be back in time to "renew". That is your only restriction.
