lindaru
The motto of the Token Store in San Juan Cosala is “A Hand Up, Not a Hand Out”, so when the San Juan Cosala ladies expressed an interest in having a Christmas Bazaar, this fit beautifully with our thinking, and we decided to help them make this happen. Some of the ladies had things they made in their homes. Some of the ladies had no identified skills, so they wanted to take lessons to learn. The volunteers of the Token Store began giving craft and cooking classes. The Bazaar will be held on Saturday, November 19 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The ladies will offer crafts, and homemade candies and cookies. There will be additional things offered that are being made in their homes. You can come on Saturday and buy crafts and also sample the candies and cookies. At this time, you can place orders for candies and cookies, to be picked up at a later date, closer to Christmas. We are asking that you put half the money down for your order, so the ladies will have money to buy ingredients. You will also have a chance to provide suggestions for next year’s Christmas Bazaar, which will be bigger and better. We are hoping this will begin a yearly money-making opportunity for the ladies. The ProMexico building is the big orange building across from the plaza in San Juan Cosala. Turn toward the lake at the light on the Carretera in San Juan, go down one block and take the first right. These smart, motivated ladies have been a pleasure to work with. They are eager to learn ways to help support their families. Please encourage their efforts and join us on Saturday.
