A question to those with solar alone hot water systems. Is your hot water needs being meet during these no sun days?

Kind of sort of. Had to turn on the instant on gas heaters for short periods of time. Thank God though, that I have double glazed windows. I bought them to keep the noise out but it is now helping  keep the cold out.

My solar hot water is fine when there is up to three days with no (as in zero) sun. In the year and a half I have had it there has never been an issue until this past week. Day four of no sun I had lukewarm water. Yesterday on day five it was slightly warmer than the cold faucet. A friend left her gas water heater in place when she installed solar and this is the first time she has had to use her backup.
