Retina Médica y Quirúrgica. Dr. Enrique A. Roig Melo-Granados enriqueroig@retina.com.mx. Guadalajara. Clínica Santa Lucía, Manuel Acuña ...

Dr. Roig has saved my vision after multiple retina collapses. He speaks perfect English and the Santa Lucia Clinic near Plaza Terranova is a specialty clinic for these types of problems. Do not hesitate if you suspect retinal problems.

The OP has requested a retinologist, who is a very specialized ophthalmologist. Most ophthalmologists do not do retina repairs. Some of the posters above are talking about simple cataract surgeries/lens replacement, which is a piece of cake, compared to retinal repairs, vitrectomy, etc., Big difference!

I saw Dr. Arturo Santos in Guadalajara last summer. He's a retina specialist, highly qualified, with advanced fellowship at Johns Hopkins eye center. I have macular degeneration and receive avastin injections to my left eye here in the US on a regular basis to slow the degeneration process. I only saw Dr. Santos on one visit but was very impressed with the advanced equipment, highly-trained staff, and his own evaluation. While my retina speciallist here in the US is considered to be on the "cutting edge" of working with AMD, Dr. Santos' equipment and techniques appear to be light-years ahead. I plan to consult with him again on my next trip to Mexico.

His number and address are below:

33 3848 5468

Centro Medico

Puerta de Hierro

Edificio A, Piso 2, #202

There is a number for him elsewhere on this board, but it's wrong--two numbers reversed. Centro Medico is between the Andares shopping center and Sam's Club in Zapopan. Easy to get to the area but we ended up circling the actual building several times before we found th eright one. I think I can provide more specific directions if you PM me.

Hope this helps.

She has been treating both of us for the last 6 years. Husband had a fold in his macula that required watching for several years and then finally surgery. She is great, speaks excellent English. Her receptionist does not speak English so if you don't speak Spanish have someone that does call for an appointment .... or call Dra. Elizabeth's cell and she will make the appointment for you. You will be very pleased.

I am going to Claudia but getting trifocal lens impants also. I had lasik about 12 years ago.  What was your vision after lasik and did this surgery make your vision even better yet. My poor eye is 20/90

I had a trifocal lens put in by Dr. Rios and the second one put in by Claudia Camacho. I would recommend the latter.

Ophthalmologist: Dr. Claudia Camacho: www.camacho-choza.com

Only VERY good experience.... not sure if she does retina.

tel: 765 7777

She is not a retinologist but realized my problem involving a mishap with a cataract surgery performed by someone else. She sent me to a Doctor Silva in Guad. He treated the retina and it is much better now.

Yes be careful. One does not dare badmouth someone in Mexico. I just know that there is one Ophthalmologist  Lakeside who has a poor reputation. Dr. Claudia has a good reputation.

Yes good advice for sure, you only have one pair of eyes! Dr. Claudia and Retina Médica y Quirúrgica. Dr. Enrique A. Roig Melo-Granados enriqueroig@retina.com.mx. Guadalajara. Clínica Santa Lucía, Manuel Acuña are good choices.

Would you recommend the operation? What did it cost? The vision in one eye needs to be improved so that I can spot those South Dakota license plates. There are still a few around. Now people are going for the state of Mexico plates. The operation will probably be done in Chapala by Dr. Ricardo Chapa as an out patient. I have never heard of this before.

I had surgery with Dr Claudia Camacho. Amazing Doctor. Amazing Treatment.

The best ophthalmologist i have visited.

her tel: 765 7777

The Eye Center above immigration in Chapala has both, the retinologist comes in from Guadalajara on Wednesdays. I too had eye surgery with them, cataracts,  and also saw the retinologist due to suspected retinal detachment. Very professional, highly recommend them. All speak English.

That is where I suspect I will have my surgery.

Hesitating and/or avoiding the best eye clinic and retinologist in Guadalajara may cost you your sight.  Get off your a$$ and get it done now.  Your eye is probably deteriorating and will suddenly go dark when the retina detatches and falls to the bottom of your eye. You will not see anything at all. Blackness!!!!! It will be sudden. the only warning is what you have already received.

He isn't being overly dramatic, I know a friend who lost sight in one eye because of his hesitation. Can't be fixed after its too late.

I sent all the dire warning I received to the optahmologist  and she said there is no rush to have the Vitrectomy. I will see the retina specialist first.
