ajijicbound
From the AjijicNews.com calendar 9-day Fiesta de Guadalupe The 9-day Fiesta de Guadalupe starts in the Guadalupe parish on the west side of town near 6 Esquinas. It concludes on December 12, which is Guadalupe Day all over Mexico, as the Virgin of Guadalupe is the Patron Saint of all of Mexico, and loved and revered by nearly all Mexicans. The above mentioned Fiesta schedule will be happening in the 6 Esquinas area for 9 days, with a final procession around town on the 12th. This procession starts at the Guadalupe Church, heads east on Calles Ocampo y Constitucion, up Calle Galeana to Calle Zaragoza, and back to 6 Esquinas for the rousing last night of the fiesta complete with bandas, castillos, and fireworks. Calle Ocampo will be closed down at night for the fiesta activity.

Guiness
Come live in Chapala Haciendas - we don't hear a thing other than birds singing and the occassional dog barking. Very quiet all year around.
slainte39
Whose Fiesta is it this morning, how long this one Will last for and how many Times a day ? Thank you for your info! A religious fiesta period is not "how many times a day", but usually a novena of nine days. The Virgin de Guadalupe, del 3 al 12 de dic.

Al Berca
Two people died today which was announced to the community by the type of tolling the church bells did followed by cohetes representing celebration of their lives. Births, deaths, marriages, funerals, etc. Are all announced in Ajijic the same way they were hundreds of years ago, by the type of tolling of the church bells. I thought this was a 12 day (docena) festival, not a 9 day (novena), the only docena of the year because it's the most important. Here in SJC it started 1 Dec and the feast day is 12 Dec.
