Shira Posted November 26, 2015 Report Share Posted November 26, 2015 The pow sound you hear is cohete(sky rockets)s being set off. They are a call to mass and celebratory as well. We are now in the middle of the San Andres festival which lasts 9 days. For some reason it is quieter and with fewer cohetes than in past years. As the festival continues it will get much louder. Go to the Ajijic Plaza at night and enjoy the festivities. At some time between 10:30 and 11:30 every night the castillo will be set off. That is a traditionall creative structure for fireworks. Go and enjoy it. Parking anywhere near the plaza will be difficult as there are vendors in the plaza and on the streets leading to the plaza.
