850p (includes instruction, materials, glazes and firing)

(100p deposit to hold place in class)

Raku is a six-hundred year-old Japanese tradition of firing pottery by loading pots into a hot kiln and 20 minutes later unloading the glowing hot pots and reloading with more pots. We will add the Western process of placing the red hot pots in combustible materials to bring out metallic sheens in the glazes. Students will have hands-on experience in all steps of the process.
Hand-building and wheel-throwing will be taught in the class. No previous experience is necessary, but advanced students are welcome.

Joe Smith has over 40 years experience teaching.
