Rony
How long did the whole process take for Judy ? Rony
More Liana
The whole process took about 11 months. The first nine months were spent convincing the SRE to accept her application for citizenship; the problem was the difference between her last name on her birth certificate and her last name on all of her adult documents--from her USA passport to all of the legal documents from her life in Mexico (Residente Permanente, our marriage certificate, IMSS membership, INAPAM card, etc etc etc). Once the SRE finally accepted her application for citizenship, the paperwork was finished in two months. YMMV, or course. Lexy, yesterday after Judy received her citizenship we went to the Palacio de Bellas Artes to see a wonderful exposition of David Douglas Duncan's 1950s-60s photos of Pablo Picasso (along with numerous actual works of Picasso and a great video of the photographer talking about his friendship with the painter). From there we went for comida at this restaurant:http://mexicocooks.typepad.com/mexico_cooks/2011/06/carmen-titita-ram%C3%ADrez-y-restaurante-el-baj%C3%ADo-mexico-city.html, which is Judy's favorite Mexican restaurant in the DF. Later in the evening we spent time with friends. Tomorrow we're going with another group of friends to eat dim sum--all in the name of celebration. John Shrall
Congratulations! I'm sure it feels sweeter than most who have accomplished this feat due to your protracted name battle with SRE. You have shown a lot of perseverance and patience. Now all she needs is the passport, IFE card and possibly and change in nationality on her driver's license and you will truly be done.
