If anyone has or gets details about this tragic incident, the murders in La Floresta, please post them here. Thank you.

Not saying it is true, but TOB says they were a Canadian couple. A bathroom window was smashed, they were robbed, murdered and had their car stolen. It is horrible!!

It is true that two people, a man and woman, both Canadians, were murdered in LaFloresta, probably late yesterday afternoon. The time of death has not been established. The bodies were not discovered until after 12:00 noon today (Sunday).

If anyone noticed a strange vehicle or individuals on foot at the east end of Camino Real or if any neighbor heard anything unusual in the late afternoon after 5:00 PM, please make this information known to the Ministerio Publico immediately on Monday morning.

A dark green van was stolen.

All state and local police officials are presently working on this matter. Our community needs to remain calm but aware of their own safety, i.e. lock your doors and windows and be sure any exterior gates are locked. If you cash checks in any establishment, be cautious about exposing your money in public. It is very easy for a criminal to follow you home and not visit you until a later time. Be aware of any suspicious cars or individuals that might not belong in your own neighborhood. The police would rather respond to a false alarm than to respond to a crime that has already been committed.

Check the license plates on your car on a regular basis. If you discover them missing, report this to the Police immediately.

Above all, if you are a victim of a crime or a crime that has been averted (windows, locks broken, etc), you have an obligation as a citizen to report it to the Police, no matter how small the crime might be. Police officials cannot do their job if they don't know what is happening.

Hard to know how authentic info is sometimes. I do not wish to add to any wild speculation. My source was a vendor at the art show who apparently lives on Camino Real and had just received a call from her husband after seeing the police and talking to neighbors. She claimed to know the couple, but not well.

A las 20 horas fue balaceada la casa de Reynold Contreras, director de la policía municipal de Chapala, Jalisco. El jefe policiaco se encuentra a salvo, 18 personas fueron remitidas al ministerio público

That picture was published 11/06/2013 ???????????? after an automobile accident - http://www.am.com.mx/lagosdemoreno/local/esta-a-salvo-jefe-policiaco-23305.html - and his house was bombed in 2011 here - seems strange that the article is only carried in one place - with a lot of outdated information. At this point, looks like fiction

I will remove it out of my post until another reliable source confirms it.

You are probably right... since there is only one source sending out this news.

Chapala, Jalisco (09/FEB/2014) -. Two Canadian citizens were allegedly killed inside their home.

Their gardener found the bodies when he arrived at the house on Camino Real and Paseo de las Rosas street, in La Floresta in the Ajijic delegation. He noticed that the door house was open and a victim lying on the living room floor. (On Feb 9)

The municipal police and paramedics were called. They did not reveal the identities of the foreigners....According to initial investigations, the Canadians have lived there for six months (translation problem - perhaps had rented for six months) and were honest and friendly with other neighboring people. Some foreigners commented that Saturday night, they had a visit from some friends and they left around 18:00 hours toward the Miguel Hidalgo International Airport in Guadalajara. They added that the Canadian couple arrived home around 20:15 pm on Saturday.

Authorities believe that foreigners were attacked during the night and household items, possibly money and jewelry were stolen, plus they stole two trucks with license plates from Ontario. *******

The beaten and bruised bodies of a Canadian couple have been discovered in their home in La Floresta, Ajijic in what local police believe was a home invasion.

The couple, who have yet to be formally identified, arrived in Ajijic six weeks ago, according to local Spanish-language news reports. The man, aged 84, and woman, 72, were found by their gardener around 10 a.m. on Sunday. The house had been ransacked, police told reporters. The assailants also made off with two vehicles belonging to the couple, they said.

Neighbors said the victims were from the province of Ontario.

Guadalajara daily Mural reported that the day before they were killed, the couple had entertained visitors and driven them to the Guadalajara Airport in the evening.

The following was posted on TOB by someone that knew them;

Nina Discombe and her partner Eddie (Eduardo) have been Canadian snowbirds to Ajijic for about 8 years. They were lovely people, talented, kind, and very involved in their lives here.

Nina came much earlier this time and bought the house in La Floresta. Eduardo stayed behind to have surgery and only returned a couple of weeks ago.

Rest in peace, Nina and Eduardo you didn't deserve this and you will be profoundly missed.

Guadalajara, Mexico - An elderly Canadian couple were beaten and knifed to death when their home in the western Mexican state of Jalisco was raided by thieves, a local official said on Sunday.

Ernesto Robles, chief of police in the municipality of Chapala, identified the victims as a 72-year-old woman and an 84-year-old man, both from the Canadian province of Ontario. No names were released.

The couple arrived in Ajijic, a town popular with foreign retirees, six months ago, Robles said.

“The gardener arrived in the morning and found the door to the home open,” Robles said.

“He went inside, and in the living room he found two bodies with various lesions. The home had been looted.”

Robles, who said a gang of thieves operating in the area may be responsible, also said that two vehicles belonging to the couple were stolen.

Ajijic is a bucolic lakeside town about 50km south of the state capital Guadalajara, Mexico's second most populous city.

About 5 000 foreigners, mostly US retirees, live in the town, according to municipal officials.

Immigration authorities and the state prosecutors are also investigating the case, Robles said.
