Natasha
Visited today with Ileana (speaks English) and Julio (he speaks very little) -- owners of silver jewellery shop 1/2 block below Carretera on Colon (# 51A ) in Ajijic. They also go to Hole-in-One on Mondays and tianguis in Ajijic on Wednesday. They know the situation well, he is taking meds (some with $$$ out of his own pocket) to Luis, they know (the few) Mexican family and friends, they've been working with DIF in trying to get something happening, and they, being Mexican, understand the system and its inherent problems and delays in providing assistance in a case like this. They are more than willing to (1) bring you up to date on the current true situation (2) receive donations of food, supplies, etc. -- AND the CD player! (3) talk to Luis and his mother about some of the options being suggested (4) help in any way they can with any proposal foreigners can offer. (5) probably direct you to personal drop point if you so desire (next to impossible if only Luis is home) Please contact them directly at their business, their stalls, or by cell phone 331-172-0174. They are anxious to hear from you! Am posting this twice in case some people don't read latest comments on original posting. Hope nobody has a snitty fit over this because it's a worthy cause. And SORRY -- but can't see how to fix the headline typo -- should be Details.

LaChula
I am giving money every week to Julio and Ileana at the Wednesdays Tianguis. They are wonderful, trustworthy people who are doing their best to help Luis and his elderly mother. Please help, every little bit helps.
