RVGRINGO
Just wait until the pylons go in to support a giant slide from the top of the mountain to the center of Lake Chapala. Wheeeee!
FHBOY
Couple of thoughts: Have you ever driven to the "new" Mega/CostCo complex on the way into Guad, going thru the Joco bypass? (BTW, the return lanes are now open!) What I fear is a complex that looks like the one you see on the left, before you hit the Outlets. They are a scar on the landscape that will make Walmart look like an environmental blessing, I suppose that is how the old timers felt/feel about Walmart. But, the advantages of the Walmart to the populous (no matter how it looks) are more far reaching than this, I hope not, eventual scar. While I could wish that the buildings does structurally fail putting an end to this, I pray that any such catastrophe occurs when they are unoccupied, the loss of any life would be a worse tragedy than the building of these homes. joco69
As a newbie, and one who doesn't see WalMart as the end all of despoiling the town, something about this racks my gut a bit. I mean I am sure all the old timers who remember when there was no WalMart to obstruct the view of the lake when you came off the libramiento, it must have been a catastrophe, but the mountains here, even the ones with developments, look more pristine to me. I can't imagine what having that mountainside dotted with buildings is going to look like. Well, time will tell and I've found that if it is inevitable, what can you do but complain and let it happen. If the locals don't care and do nothing about it, there is nothing anybody else can do. One year during the rainy season everybody involved will regret the project, the ground is so unstable it will all come tumbling down. If I had a property below this project I would start making plans to sell.

On the other hand a loss of life would change everyone's perception of the place probably putting the whole project into the toilet.

gravy
There was no view of the lake before Wallmart was built. It was only trees. YES ....TREES ,,,,a better view than that Archeoligical abortion that is Wally World .....They were required BY LAW to replant trees to buffer the view of the building ....which they did AND LET DIE FROM THE LACK OF WATER .....convientely
