Sentri Pass

Recommended Posts

Last time I flew into TJ and took the bus to San Ysidro to cross, I was on the bus over 3 hours because of back ups. Was told to get a Sentri Pass and take a taxi from the airport so I can walk through the Sentri lane. Tried to download the application but it appears to be only in Spanish. Any help is appreciated.

I believe Sentri is for cars/motorcycles, not people. http://www.globalentry.gov/sentri.html .

Global Entry is for people, at airports, to get through immigration faster via a priority line. http://www.globalentry.gov/ . Took me about 3 weeks to get my Global Entry. $100 US non-refundable processing fee. Have to have a clean record and go through an interview. I don't drive down any more but I think I can add Sentri for the same money to my acct. I also picked up TSA-Pre, for NON-international flights.

Nexus the the USA/Canadian equivalent of Sentri.

They have a Sentri line when you walk through the San Ysidro port of entry. It is at the gate [well marked "Sentri Only" ] just before you go into the USA area and the guard looks at it and there is a separate line to go into the building.

The Sentri pass is $122.25 for 5 years. It is is for cars, etc and walkers over the border. I know Global entry is for all countires and is $100 (is it for 1 year or 5?) and how does it differ from a Sentry pass?

Global Entry is $100 US for 5 years. It's for immigration lines at major USA airports. You scan your passport at a kiosk, declare whatever electronically at that kiosk, get a receipt, and then move on to pick up your luggage. For me, it's much better than standing in line for 30 to 90 minutes waiting for someone to scan/stamp my passport and ask me what I was doing in Mx.

Didn't know Sentri was also used for walking across the Mx/US border. Might just add it to my Global Entry.
