Alfa
A few months ago when JAVA was problematic, I blocked the program. I did not uninstal. I do Best Crosswords but to access the puzzles I ned a JAVA plug in. With JAVA blocked, I cannot instal the plug in. Can someone tell me how to fix this problem? Do I have to uninstal and reinstal or what is easier. Oracle has come up with several updates since they had the problem and I assumed they corrected the problem. StevenDrew
So, not sure what the problem was BEFORE with Java, but you likely need the most current version on your computer to do many different things. Having an outdated Java is also a security issue to viruses and other nasties. Go to "add/remove programs" and delete any older versions of Java and updates you see. Then go here: http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp and download the newest version.
Zanadu44
I would recommend what Kim Komando says when using Java. This will help with the security of using is. Here is the link where she discusses this. http://www.komando.com/tips/index.aspx?id=13817&page=

Little Feather
A previous post on this webboard said not to install the ASK toolbar when you install Java. I have gotten a couple of updates in the last few weeks and always uncheck the ASK Toolbar before completing installation.
