I'd recommend getting your eyes examined for diseases and conditions like cataracts by an opthamologist, but get glasses from an optometrist or optician.

For some unknown reason, their exam is more accurate. I've done it both ways over a lifetime of wearing glasses and that's been my experience. The optician up on the carretera (mountain side) in the strip near Telmex did a good job for me the last time. His name is Salvador, and I believe he's there on Saturdays. A new lady is there during the week.

Dr. Antonio Pinto is an opthamologist. His office is located just east of Maskaras Clinic on the lake side of the carretera. He is a medical doctor trained in opthamology. There is also an opthamologist that comes to Dermika, in the Ajijic Plaza next to ISI Lab and Pasteleria Marisa. And another who comes to the Ajijic Clinic once a week. There is yet another who is just in from the corner of Colon and the Carretera, mountain side, who comes a few times per week.

as a former scottish football referee ,i have been told to get my eyes examined.can anyone recommend optician , ajijic or chapala area.also who best to make eye glasses at reasonable price.

Since you were a referee I'm surprised this is the first time you've been told to get an eye exam. Most referees (of all sports) are told that on a regular basis. I would suggest you visit Dr. Luz at LCS. She's excellent and should you situation require a specialist she will tell you. Second, her prices for spec are very reasonable. And third, you eye exam will be no-charge.

what took you so long ??? english refs are just as bad. theres no law to say an englishman cant referee in scotland. the wall you refer to, is that the one that kept out all the scots players invading england in the 70 and 80 s?

fortunately it did work during the last foot and mouth outbreak in 2000, there were no reports that any haggis died during that crisis, unfortunately no reports of referees dying either...
