baxter6
Anyone crossed here recently and if so do I have to leave Mexico in order to get a new tourist visa or is it like Nogales where the immigration office is 18 kms in from the border so I believe I can hand my old card in and then go back in line to receive my new 6 month visa . Any help would be of great assistance and maybe quickest way to get there by car. thanks for any assistance I might receive
RVGRINGO
Be prepared for a possible surprise by being only given 30 days as a tourist, unless you spend 72 hours outside of Mexico. They can, and have done that recently, to folks making such quick border runs. It can depend entirely on the agent.
Fred Habacht
Matamoros is a gritty, nasty little town but crossing at Reynosa offers a newer crossing facility as well as less danger. Maincoons and others have posted driving directions. Fred Habacht
John Shrall
I concur with choosing Reynosa and the Pharr bridge rather than Matamoras. The INM building at the Pharr bridge is set up very close to that of Columbia and is very easy to get in and out. If you need to spend the day or perhaps more in Pharr, it's a nice little town and is very close to McAllen. As Fred said, there are many posts with driving directions. I've taken that route the last 3 trips to Texas and find it less stressful than crossing in Laredo.
