Dermatologist in Chapala/Ajijic?

Recommended Posts

Can you tell me where this clinic is located? Still fumbling my way around here... We don't have a car, so I'd need to be able to take a bus or taxi.

It's on the highway in Ajijic just west and across the street from the shopping center that has El Torito and Salvador's Restaurant in it. There is the casino, Marisa's Bakery, Isilab and a Telcel in the same shopping center.

Thanks. I think I'll check out Dermika. What should I expect in terms of fees? When you call to schedule appointments, are you able to be seen fairly quickly or is there a long waiting period, ie. if I called today, how long would it be before I could be seen, in general?

After battling chronic Seborrhea, the young male Dr. there had my face looking "normal" within 2 weeks! I am thrilled with the results....That was in November of last year and I'm still happy with the treatments (which ended about 3 months ago)...

A few months ago, the charge for the complete cancer scan was 250 pesos. You may have to wait a week or so unless it is an emergency.

One of the doctors at Dermika may be on maternity leave so I am not sure what that does to waiting times for appointments. We have paid as much as $500 pesos when we had a lot of work done. On the other hand we have had follow up visit where not one peso was charged. Dra. Monika Ramos diagnosed and treated my husband for shingles on three occasions. She has also burned off actinic kerotoses, taken biopsies and removed cysts for us. We love that clinic.

Another strong recommendation for Dermika. My doctor there is Dra. Tanya Sanchez and she is outstanding. We have a number of friends who use Dermika and have had also great experiences with both Dra. Monica and Dra. Tanya. All the doctors in the practice are excellent as are the support staff.

In the same little shopping center where they are located they have a lab and pharmacy specializing in the products associated with dermatology. They definitely do not push those facilities on you but they are very convenient and competitive on price. Now that I know about those parts of their practice I go out of my way to utilize those services - supporting their overall practice.

One final comment - I had to have a procedure that could not be done in their office so they referred me to a surgeon in Guadalajara and I had a procedure in a hospital in town. Dra..Tanya came to the hospital, came into the operating room while the procedure was being done and came out and let my wife know what was going on. Above and beyond in my book.

I have always been able to get in to see them within a week - often less. And they will always take care of you if you have an emergency. I have always thought their fees were quite reasonable and have had the same experience someone else mentioned - follow up visits at no cost.

There are other dermatologists in the area that have a following but I wouldn't consider going to anyone else. Count me as an extremely happy patient.

Dermika charged me double what their quoted price was for removing some growths; and clocked their time with me, at precisely 15 minutes they cut my session short, even though not all the growths had been removed. I did not return.

Dr. Reyes does not have a fancy office but has given me good service, also my husband.

I tend to agree with you. My husband had a multitude of birth marks on his back. She could only remove the big and medium ones (about 10 out of 20) within the time allocated. When he came home, I could still see most of them. He was told they would go away . . . they never did (three in part), and he never cared to return. ($500 pesos for 15 minutes)

Dr. Reyes visits Chapala on Monday afternoon/evening, and Ajijic on Tuesday, if memory serves me correctly.

We used his Chapala office, after 4:30, upstairs at Clinica Nueva Galicia, on the east side of Juarez, just north of Lopez Cotilla. There is a sign up sheet if you go there earlier in the day.

In Ajijic, he visits at Danza del Sol. Ask at the desk.

Here is what Mr. Google found for me. I had visited Dr. Reyes at his Danza del Sol location; with no appointment I waited about 10 minutes, as I recall. Happy to hear that he is also in Chapala.
