Aaaargh! I confess. I'm a technodino--I know enough for basic problems, but this one has been driving me around the bend for quite a while. My problem is trying to access the TRICARE Overseas website (heathcare website for military vets). I can get into the general site, but the moment I try to get into the TOP portion (TRICARE Overseas Program), I constantly get "can't reach this site" messages. I've called them directly, but they just say it's on my end. I've cleaned caches, reset, changed networks, changed browsers, but nothing works. Firefox says, "Secure Connection Failed. The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified." DIfferent wording, but same result with Edge and Chrome. If you have a name, please DM me (but not the guy near Pancho's or Felipe). Immediate access to TRICARE is really important, and snail mail isn't going to cut it.

BIG TIA!

Is this the webside where you are having problems?

https://www.tricare-overseas.com/

No. I'm actually logged for the newer access (ironically, myaccess), but the problem is once you get into the site, you're not actually there yet. The gov being the gov, likes to put a LOT of steps into place while consolidating several unrelated sites under the same umbrella. Once you've passed the log-in, then verify the code, you go a few more steps and get to a place where you have about 20 sites covered by DS. At that point, I tell it TRICARE Overseas Program (TOP), and that's where it tells me that it's unavailable/ can't be reached/etc (depends on which browser). If you're a user, you'll understand what I'm talking about, if not, it's a bit confusing (sorry). This is a frustrating, often-repeating problem I've had and I need to learn what it is on our side that is causing this to happen.

Unfortunately, since it's a gov website, it won't accept a VPN. Online, several websites recommend going into the private mode of the browser, but that didn't work. I even removed my antivirus program. Still, nothing. This is why I'd really appreciate the name of someone truly good with computers. Again, big thanks to you two and anyone else who may respond.

I truly appreciate that all of you are trying to help me, but please read what I've written first. I DO NOT want to use Ruben or Felipe , as mentioned in my original posting. You cannot use a VPN on this site. The security is TIGHT, and it bounces. Firefox indicates that the issue is related to their certificate. Google tells me that since several browsers are all rejected, it's on our side of the connection. I've had this happen in the past, and I ended up getting one computer back up...for a while. The truly sad thing is that I have no idea what I did right to get it back up (technodino). I used it for months, and then this happened again.

If you know of a genuine computer expert, please DM the name. Otherwise, a big "Thank you!" I'll try calling the site again. Who knows? Maybe my luck will change, and I'll get someone who will do more than tell me it's my problem....one can dream, right?

1.  Felipe de Jesus Miranda D. You have a post in 2025 where you said you used him. 2.  Ruben at ComputerLand in Riberas Plaza 376 765 7695

Felipe no longer available ( we used him too) for personal reasons. Can't recommend Ruben any more since he really messed up last time we tried..... expensive lesson that resolved nothing.

HAH!!! At least you seem to understand what a VPN is............ my old lady brain can't even begin.   But then,  it doesn't CARE either 🤣

VICTORY!!! (well, for today) I would still love to have the name of a truly knowledgeable computer tech, but I just wanted to say that I finally got in. Once again, it was by 51% luck and 49% stupidity which did it (YMMV). The basic issue isn't resolved, but at least it is for now. Gotta love being old and a technodino. If any of you also use TOP, please drop me a PM with your experiences on it. Maybe I'm missing something obvious (forest, trees, you know...)

I sometimes find that maybe the weather, electrical problems, etc. prevent me accessing a website for a few days, but when it clears up, just get right in like I did 100 times before. Just maybe that was your issue and you really don't have a problem. Just sayin'.

Apparently what the company he worked for, and the "promotion" they gave him, didn't work out because that was his reason for telling me he wouldn't be available any more.  Good news for sure!

I just wanted to add one last comment. I had another problem (shocker!) and called Felipe since he placed a posting here after my first request for recommendations. I originally asked for him not to be recommended because I had been told that he was no longer working with computers. He's back, and I'm really glad. It's nice to have the expert come to the house rather than having to drop the beast off somewhere and then wait forever. His fees are extremely reasonable, especially for on-site service. I had a strange issue pop up that was causing a lot of heartburn, and he was able to resolve it quickly. He also walked Hubs and me through a couple of questions we had involving connected computers. I would definitely use him again!
