ATM That Allows Large Amounts

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for an ATM that allows me to withdraw large amounts.  My withdrawal limit is $1000 US per day so I was wondering if anyone know of an ATM that will allow me to take out $16,000 Pesos at a time.  I will be renting an apartment soon and need to be able to pay 1st and last en efectivo.  I'm currently in Ribaras Del Pilar but can travel a little distance if needed.  Thanks, Mike

Thank you Natasha.  I went and used the HSBC ATM in Walmart and they only allowed me to take out $15,000 but that will be fine.

Google maps shows me CiBanco in the plaza across from Tubolandia with the casino. Is that the ATM you were speaking of?

Yes, she is talking about CiBanco that is also in the Laguna Mall but at the most northern area of the parking lot... backs up to the large Telcel store and is visible from the car wash. Be warned that it is often out of money. I prefer getting money from the HSBC bank which is opposite Walmart in the Laguna Mall. They have more machines and I consider it safer than the Walmart machines. YMMV. Also, you can run your card as many times as necessary to get the amount you want as long as it does not exceed the daily limit that your card's bank has put on it. You will be charged for every transaction though.

I regularly pull 20,000 from Banorte in Chapala across from the Church near Malecon.

A little trick to know in case you don't. If you use an ATM here make sure to decline the conversion. Many people think if you decline it stops the transaction. It doesn't. They want you to use their rate if you decline it reverts to the current rate listed by the card you use. It is always a better rate than local banks have. Pulling over 20,000 and declining their rate will save you a lot of pesos.

When we were doing a home remodel, I went to Schwab and asked them to increase my daily limit from $1000 to $3000. I would withdraw $21,000 from CI (3x$7000) and do the same at HSBC. At the 19 exchange rate, that was about $2200US.

This was in 2019 and there wasn't any of the exchange rate "suggestions" bs that is going on now.

$15,000 HSBC's limit per transaction regardless of what your bank allows..... and their own transacytion fee is pretty high IMO

I agree with Ferret  ..... with  CiBanco timing is everything..... but I always used to call ahead and ask if it had lots of money. ( Spanish)  376 766 2382
