  1. While I'm sure we all appreciate the good information on Talavera tiles, my originall question concerned commercial ceramic tiles. Are any of those places mentioned a good place to match a ceramic tile?
  2. Is there a "go to" place locally where I can get a small number of tiles to match existing ones? Alternative is to re-tile my bathroom.... Ugh. TIA
  3. They say that they will, but my experience is that it is almost always declined. I have tried it on Amazon.mx and Mercadolibre many times, and it has worked maybe twice.
  4. I got the email yesterday saying my bill is available. Clicked on the PDF link and downloaded the bill to my phone. No problem.
  5. I have had Telmex fiber for some time (to the house, not the local pole). I'm paying 599 for 150 down, and consistently get 200 down and 100 up.
  6. Two questions: 1. Is there anywhere lakeside where I can get VHS tapes digitized? 2. I would like to dispose of about 150 music CDs. Is there a worthwhile cause I can donate them to? TIA
  7. Two family members tested yesterday at Hospital San Antonio for travel to USA tomorrow. They have both been vaccinated, but the test is still required. Antigen test, results in 15 min. $1600/pp
  8. I didn't see anything that prohibits seniors from going out. Just prohibits businesses from letting them in. Did I read that right? BTW the Oxxo in La Canacinta had an employee at the door yesterday who stopped me from going in.
  9. Every year i ask for the 50% discount for both property tax and water. I never get it. This is Chapala. I understand they give the discount in Jocotopec. I even showed the jefe at the Ajijic Simapa office their own printed policy which clearly mandates a 50% discount for seniors, and pointed out that it's unconstitutional to discriminate against non citizens. All I get is a shrug.
  10. I've had Telmex fiber service for some time. I'm very happy with both the Internet and voice service. There is no cost differential between fiber and copper. I and paying 599 and I usually get 200 down and 100 up.
  11. Got my check a couple of days ago. It was mailed May 9. Took it to Intercam, where I have an account. They said it would take a week to clear, but the pesos have already been deposited to my account.
  12. If you are getting 20-30 on your firestick, that should not be the cause of buffering.
  13. Yes, there are communities with high speed internet available, mine included. I have Telmex fiber, and pay 499 pesos/month for 50mbs Internet and my phone with worldwide service. I have the option to increase speed to 150 mbs for another 100 pesos if I ever need it. It's very reliable, and the voice service is very clear. I'm very happy with the service. Just one data point in answer to your question.
  14. As I said almost a year ago, Omeprazole keeps the problem under control for me. Bdmowers seems to have the opinion that it can't work. All I can say is that if I don't take it, the symptoms come back. As I said, YMMV.
  15. Yes they do. When I tried to use my cellphone on my wife's account, they said no because it's not registered in her name.
  16. Capital One told me that the texts MUST be sent to a cellphone with a SIM registered in my name from a cellphone company . In other words, it must use the cell tower network, NOT the internet. Other banks may differ....
  17. This I don't understand. I may be dumb, but ... I have a spreadsheet of all my 2020 statememnts. This is a checking account, NOT an investment. From this conversation have learned and accept the fact that the ISR is levied on the entire value of the account, not on the interest earned. I'm not sure how the ISR calculated, however (based on starting balance, ending balance, average daily balance ...), but it sure doesn't add up to 1.45%. It's about half that. I say "about" because it is certainly not consistent from month to month. The same is true of the interest, although I accept the fact that interest rates have gone down. What is amazing to me is that nobody at Intercam can actually explain my statement to me. Two weeks ago they promised to get me answers "from Mexico City", but I'm still waiting.
  18. Not an easy process. I have done this, but it relies on having an address and some willing help in the USA. I opened an account with Consumer Cellular. &20/mo. Then when the SIM arrived in the mail, my daughter put it in her ( unlocked) phone to verify/initiate the account. Then send the SIM to me. Goes in an old phone, or in the other slot of a dual SIM phone. I use it to recieve texts ONLY. Using it to make calls is expensive, and you can't send texts from here.
  19. I don't remember the name, but the store on Ocampo, just east of Manix restaurant, opposite side of the street, does refills. They have an electronic/neon sign outside.
  20. Unfortunately there seems to be no correlation. My balance had been steadily increasing, but the withholding amount has been all over the place.
