  1. Very few at my place compared to last year. I have several plants.,
  2. When I moved here 20+ years ago it was common practice to bargain. Now, I never think about it.
  3. No regrets with Telmex fiberoptic here.
  4. It is not that they would grow, but the evolved thousands of years ago growing in trees. I have been growing orchids for more than 40 years. Most of the species (Cattleyas for example) that we grow at home for their beautiful flowers evolved in trees where they grow today. We grow them in pots.
  5. Orchids belong to the largest group of plants. They are found on every continent, except Antarctic. They grow naturally everywhere--on the ground and in trees, etc. Most of the orchids we grow are epiphytes....they grow in trees. This includes. Vandas. . There are 65 some species in this Asian Genus that are mostly epiphytic, although there are some lithopytic and terrestrials that exist, but they are all monopodial in growth habit and are Asiatic in origin.
  6. Vandas are from Asia. The Vandas sold here are hybrids. What makes you think they grow in the trees locally?
  7. At my house in Upper Ajijic I had a surprising 0.9 inches of rain. Dare we hope this is the start of something. Meanwhile, on my walk at 7 AM the trees were looking very happy and clean for the first time in a long time.
  8. Vanda's are a little tricky here and are usually expensive. $1000 is not uncommon The best option if from one of the local growers, but the nursery mention does get them from time-to-time. Just keep looking.
  9. Amount 1.00$ From USD – US Dollar To MXN – Mexican Peso 1.00 US Dollar = 16.988152 Mexican Pesos
  10. Raining lightly Upper Ajijic...9:08 am
  11. Around 7:45 am, while having breakfast on the terrace I heard a loud thunder blast coming from the Chapala area. Sending a Whatsap to a friend in Chapala he confirmed it was raining. Does not look like it will make it to Ajijic anytime soon. No, the rainy season has not started. From what remember reading we have to have three consecutive days of rain for it to be a start to the rainy season.
  12. ‘Adrian’ upgraded to hurricane, bringing rains to western Mexico MND Staff June 28, 2023 Adrian is the first named storm of the 2023 hurricane season in the eastern Pacific. (NOAA) Share Tropical Storm Adrian was upgraded to a category 1 hurricane – the first named storm of the hurricane season in the eastern Pacific – bringing heavy rains to the western coast of Mexico. The National Meteorological Service (SMN) reported on Wednesday morning the upgrade from a tropical storm to a category 1 hurricane, with maximum sustained winds of 120 to 150 km/hr. Gusts of 40 to 60 km/hr could hit coastal states, and waves may reach heights of up to three meters. While the hurricane is not predicted to make landfall in Mexico, heavy rains should be expected in Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán and Guerrero.
  13. I have not seen any rain in upper Ajijic.
  14. I agree with H2Ole. I suggest you go in person to the office. It is in the parking garage of the Plaza Bugambilia.
  15. Ferret, when you are totally depleted like that you should also consider taking an electrolyte solution. Thanks for the reminder.
  16. Sounds good. I guess when my time comes (October) I will aim for 9 AM. Gracias
  17. Is there a time of the day that is better.=? Most people seem to be saying they arrive in the morning and there are already lines. Would an afternoon appointment be better?
  18. I pay my two gardeners $150/hour each.
  19. I have always believed that you get what you pay for.
  20. What is the form you are asked to fill out?
  21. I should have said I got both my RFC and Constancia (one document). Take your CURP number and ID to the little Papelerila (?) across from the Oxxo/Intercam bank. She did it on her computer and printed it in a few minutes.
  22. When I renewed my car insurance they wanted a copy of my Constancia de Situacion Fiscal. Way back when I got mine at the paper, etc. place across the carretera from the Intercam bank in Ajijic. It took just a few minutes.
  23. Lakeside Seven. I have been receiving one every year for 18 years. It was easier when the post office was in Chapala. There is at least one month leeway between when it is mailed and I would like to receive it. Even longer before it needs to be filed.
