  1. Ditto learning about El Charro. We ate dinner last night at Tango Ajijic and took Juarez north back to the carretera when we passed El Charro lit up, it looked very nice. My wife tried to find info on the phone and no facebook, no google info was to be found. Anyone know about this place??
  2. We used Azucena Bateman at ABC Legal in Ajijic 🇲🇽 (Google ABC Legal, highly rated) and she coordinated our 3 year Temporal extension and extending the TIP to match. She speaks english and is good at returning emails and the cost was very reasonable. We didn't want the hassle of doing it ourselves and glad we used her service. .
  3. Talked to TotalPlay at Walmart, they'd love to help but out here east of Vista del Lago homes/golf course we're still "2-3 years from install" they told me. Wish we had more options, but the inconvenience is not going to cause us to move from the area....yet.
  4. Those are the exact numbers I came up with a couple days ago when I looked on line.... and it said delivery "early 2022". They certainly aren't giving $$ it away, even here in Mexico. It's not that I want Elon Musk to keep his spot in the top billionaires club, but we live in Tlachichilco area (20 mins east of Chapala) and our internet sucks on a good day. I've been following the Starlink progress in the States and would be thrilled to have anything that resembles consistent strong service. Suggestions welcome! Does anyone know how you can share this type of service with a neighbor to split the cost up --- WIFI extenders?
  5. Is there anywhere to try their Tequila or can we get an idea of what they offer and quantos $MX. I'd certainly invest in a bottle if I knew where to get it? Is calling the only way?
  6. The "new site" is awesome. Really appreciate the hard work that has gone into your weather site MexBound! I was tinkering with many of the tabs and the info is endless. On the new Flight Tracker tab, who knew I wanted to watch airplanes move in slow motion around the country.... LOL! But I did!
  7. We just renewed 3-year TR with Azucena Bateman Campos (ABC Lega, top Best of Chapala 2020l) in Ajijic and the gov't INM fees are $8376 MX each TR Visa, plus her fees of $1,800 MX each visa. Cheap? Maybe not, but she is including our vehicle TIP extension with Customs for another 3 years and was very efficient and accurate when we used her with our initial visa paperwork into Lakeside.
  8. Twice in the past 5 months my wife and I have stayed over night at the Hampton Inn by Hilton Aeropuerto GDL. VERY CLEAN, quiet, 24 hr front desk, bottled water and a nice hot breakfast in the morning. They also offer courtesy airport shuttle from 4:30am to 23:30. Excellent rates found on Hotels.com. Our last stay there was about a month ago on a late night arrival into GDL around midnight. Taxi ride to the hotel was about $150 MX and takes about 10-12 mins. Highly recommend. This is a nice, NOB style hotel and front staff speaks some english.
  9. Acupuncture Needed... Referral Por Favor I tried a search here but the results were a couple years old and very limited. Does anyone have a good referral Lakeside or GDL? My wife seems to react well to acupuncture and her back is killing her now. She does not like Chiropractic because she has scoliosis and the treatments hurt. Gracias!
  10. I second the Las Palmas in Matehaula. We stayed there in August on a drive down from Colombia Solidarity International Bridge crossing in North Laredo and it exceeded my expectations. Nice, safe, retro-style hotel with tasty, affordable restaurant.
  11. The afp fact check link above does NOT address geeser's post of Doctor McCullough statement which appears to be accurate whether you agree with it or not. Fact Check: Deaths from Covid Vaccination on CDC’s Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System [VAERS]. Just saying there is something there from the CDC....?? Significant Jump This Week in Reported Injuries, Deaths After COVID Vaccine | In The US 118,902 total adverse events were reported to VAERS, including 3,544 deaths FeedData released today by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on the number of injuries and deaths reported to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) following COVID vaccines showed a significant jump in reports of injuries and deaths compared with last week’s numbers. VAERS is the primary government-funded system for reporting adverse vaccine reactions in the U.S. Reports submitted to VAERS require further investigation before a causal relationship can be confirmed. Every Friday, VAERS makes public all vaccine injury reports received as of a specified date, usually about a week prior to the release date. Today’s data show that between Dec. 14, 2020 and April 23, a total of 118,902 total adverse events were reported to VAERS, including 3,544 deaths — an increase of 358 over the previous week — and 12,619 serious injuries, up 2,467 since last week.
  12. Hola All, we're driving next week to San Miguel de Allende from Lakeside. I Googled and Waze the directions to find 2 main routes with pretty similar ETA's: #1) (Has Tolls) Hwy 35 past Ocotlan and La Barca to Hwy 150 to Hwy 90, etc... and north in Celaya to San Miguel #2) North past Guadalajara, to Lagos de Moreno (Hwy 80) then south past Leon and Guanajuato, etc. Suggestions on safety and road conditions, por favor?? Gracias! 🇲🇽
  13. 8 months in Lakeside and have never needed (or visited a Doctor). I may have a need to visit a local ER to assist with a burst hemroid issue if I can't get control of it and I will be Self-Paying since my Medigap won't cover me here after 60 days away from the States. Of course I know SAT Hospital but the google reviews are all over the place? Riberas Hospital is new but don't show enough reviews for a sample to accurate; and Hospital Ajijic has a good reputation and reviews but don't hear about it often? Besides having a Doctor who could have referred me (yep, I probably messed up by not establishing a relationship sooner) suggestions and opinions appreciated. Embarrassed but TIA. ⚕️ 😷
  14. Two weeks ago in Tlachichilco $12.70 MX/liter. Keeps creeping up due to what I read was RV craze in the States - motor homes and trailers - needing the fuel for cooking. And of course Mexico gets 60% of its propane from the US. Google it.
  15. 1. RickS, you have had many well thought out responses on many subjects in the past, often appreciated your thought.... but you seem to be agreeing, airlines, cruise lines, trains, etc are pursuing a Vaccine-type of passport... yet if they aren't going to MANDATE or REQUIRE (choose your word) a certain type of vaccine to transit, travel or vacation then why have this passport at all?? If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck..... 2. Yep, 1984 was fiction, and fact is often stranger than fiction as I'm sure you've seen in your life time. This is no exception. 3. Yep, error on the side of caution and wait for additional trails to prove safety and identify known side-effects. One of the most liberal EU nations, Sweden just suspended this vaccine. Maybe their research is more detailed than what you've read?
  16. This whole idea of a vaccine mandate seems absurd... George Orwell warned in his classic novel, 1984, a major characteristic of a totalitarian society is that the all-powerful state supplants the independence (and sovereignty) of the family. Yet, the drive toward a flu vaccine mandate is more than about power and control. So you are all okay with a Government mandating that in order for you to ______________ (fill-in the blank) travel, relocate, return to your home country, etc. you must _______________ (also fill-in the blank) vaccinate, etc. even if you're unsure it is safe to do so. Has anyone read the EU is currently suspending Astra-Zenaca vaccine in some countries because of blood clot concerns? These vaccines were rushed out before they knew any side effects. What's next? Thant is crazy to support a vaccine mandate to travel!
  17. Who is the Best Online Money Exchange service? I'm looking to get a good exchange rate online from USD$ into MX$ pesos for transfer to our financial institution who offers a decent rate but not as good as online. I want to move $5,000 - $10,000 USD. Suggestions and experiences appreciated. Gracias!
  18. I got my SSA 1099 so the other form is also available now.
  19. We have some friends, who own a home in Los Galapagos (now on the market) and have lived there for three years. They liked Los Galapagos a lot, small. quiet development on the lake, but are moving to another home - also out east near where we live - with a great hillside lake view and huge covered patio and to be near some friends living in the other small development called Chiramoyo. There are some nice, small, safe developments out this way in a more rural setting. I'd look at Access Lake Chapala Rentals. We love it out here and it's only 20 minutes to Chapala, 25 to Walmart (on excellent roads!) the same or less time as when we lived in San Juan Cosala. 🦎 🌴
  20. Three (3) pesos for gas only. Five (5) if they also do the front window. Ten (10) if they also do front and back.
  21. Mostlylost is correct... Netflix doesn't even hiccup, we just have little "sub-accounts" when we sign-in which are our name & icons so Netflix knows who's watching. That way my shows and episodes I'm watching don't conflict or override shows the others are viewing.
  22. It really looks delicious! And just to whine a bit..... I wish some of these restaurants would try to offer Sin Gluten pastas. If I can find pastas like Barilla at Walmart these restaurants should be able to find it too. I don't want to be Libre de Gluten, it's not a lifestyle choice it's because gluten rips up those of us with Celiac. I don't have it as bad as some but I'd love to eat out at an Italian Restaurants instead of always eating pasta at home, and as is often the case. pay a small premium for the service too. I bet many restaurants would find there are more of us Sin Gluten customers than they realize! Gracias! My whine is over!
  23. Since moving to Mexico I have come to find the free phone app Waze that I used in the States for years is also VERY reliable in Jalisco for accurate turn-by-turn directions 🚙 and includes traffic, cops, hazards as reported live by other users. The new HD Santa Anita is included. That's my suggestion.
  24. Here's the address....Home Depot, V. LOPEZ MATEOS # 7700 COL: SANTA ANITA} Guadalajara, Jalisco CP.45640 Home Depot is about 2.5 km south (before you get to Costco) on the west side of the carretera.
