  1. I used to get one of these from Intercam Banco every year, however, this year they ran out. Anyone know where I could get a different one. I miss it!!
  2. I do realize that the seller of a house only pays the real estate comission. The buyer pays the closing costs of purchasing a new house. Thanks for all the comments. I more or less got my answer.
  3. On our TV, we could not get Shaw at 6 am, but by 7am it was up and running okay.
  4. Is there anyone out there who has recently purchased a house in the municipality of Chapala. I was just wondering what the closing costs were as a percentage of the total purchase price. Have not purchased a property since 2015 and thinking of moving. I believe the biggest cost is that of the Notaria Publica. Would appreciate any and all replies.
  5. It is a way of life here. I have been living here since 2011, from Canada. You get used to it eventually. Never mind the noise curfew. You will never stop them setting cohetes (sky rockets) during the Ajijic fiesta, or festival. This is life in Mexico. If you can't deal with it, I suggest you move somewhere else. I lived in Puerto Vallarta for a couple of years and never heard them there. Apparently it is just in small villages in Mexico. It will go on and off here from now until after Easter. Then things should quiet down.
  6. I have to get trifocals and was just wondering if anyone has used this place recently, and if so, were you happy with your new lenses. It is where Dr. Pinto used to be. The only other lens place that I know of is in Chapala on Madero. Are there any other places here that provide good lenses, i.e. Chapala, Ajijic? Would appreciate your advice. Also, if there is a place in Guadalajara that you really like, would appreciate the name, address and Colonia. Thanks.
  7. This address is incorrect. He has left Villa Nova for some time now and moved back into his old office, just west of Colon on the lake side - No. 4B. On his new business card there appears to no longer be a landline. Just a cell and whatsapp number. The cell is 333-310-0927 and the whatsapp 332-234-7329.
  8. Ours went down last week for the first time since we contracted with them. We called and they said they would send someone out. Low and behold, a couple of hours later a tech person from TotalPlay showed up. Apparently there was a problem with trees and wires down our street. They had it all sorted out within about 45 minutes. Very impressed. Never had that type of service with Telmex.
  9. Thanks for the comments. No more are necessary.
  10. Has anyone used this fellow's services and were you satisfied?
  11. Maybe you are looking for Ministerio Publico, where you go to register thefts or other crimes against you. It is on Calle Gonzales Gallo in Chapala.
  12. Tree blown down on Calle del Manglar, Villa Nova, near Callejon del Arroyo.
  13. Unless the rules have changed, you are not required to forward your medical receipts to the government with your return; just keep them on file in case you are audited. I have been doing this for many years now, and have never had a problem.
  14. There is a little store on Upper Colon that repairs appliances. I once found vaccum bags for a vaccum we inherited in the house we now live in. Have had other things repaired there as well and they do good work.
  15. The lab which is immediately behind the bus station in Chapala does PCR tests. I think they can turn around in 24 hours.
  16. You are behind the times. Canada does now accept Sinovac and Cansino vaccines. I know because I plan on going to Canada next year.
  17. I went to Chapala this morning to the Centro de Salud. I believe it is on Calle Velasco about 3 blocks up from Madero. Had my flu shot in about 15 or 20 minutes. It may have been called Seguro Popular before when that org. existed, but not any more. But I did have my Seguro Popular booklet and they recorded the vaccination in it. Have no idea whether the vaccine is current or not. Did not recognize the number they recorded which was - V3H60.
  18. When we built our house in the Raquet Club, we had to pay the IMSS for the employees. Our architect provided the required documentation from IMSS. Cannot remember how we paid, up front or at the end of the project. However, we did have to go to GDL for the final payment, and later we received a finiquito from the IMSS.
  19. Go to the Elections Canada web site. I registered a few years back, and on Monday I received an email saying that a parcel would be arriving soon from DHL with my voting package. Can't remember what I needed to register. I think minimum would be a Canadian Passport number.
  20. Firstly, I buy generic drugs from Farmacia Similares and use both the Chapala and Ajijic stores. The prices seem to be, if not exactly the same, very close. Non-generic drugs I buy from Farmacia GDL in Chapala. The same drug store in Ajijic always seems to have higher drug prices than the Chapala store. I would not venture to Jocotepec for drugs and the cost of gasoline would be more than the savings on drugs.
  21. I don't know why the Moderator allows/puts up with this sort of bickering on this site. It is absolutely childish!
  22. Canmex 87 - maybe he is back now. A friend of mine has her car there and he told her, last week I think, that his mother was quite ill and would be taking a few days off to look after her. Fortunately, my friend was not in a rush for her car.
  23. Try Dr. Pinto in Riberas del Pilar, across from Mom's Restaurant and Orma Auto Parts. He makes glasses.
  24. This is not a recommendation, just information as to where you can go to get the best rates. We use Intercam at the moment and are happy with service and rates. Other financial institutions that I have heard have good rates are Multiva Bank and O'Rourke Financial. It is up to you to do your own investigations at the institutions.
