  2. Lovely...thank you! This gives her some excellent choices!
  3. Hello All, My wife and I will be in Ajijic the second week of December. She would like to take a Yoga class or two somewhere in Lakeside. She'd like an English speaking teacher. Any help would be appreciated. David Rodwell
  4. So you are saying it doesn't matter what country one buys the ticket in? And your last sentence is very interesting. I will have to decide if that is indeed a better way to run my successful business!
  5. Isn't reel to reel audio only? Did you record just sound onto a VHS tape? Wouldn't any sound recording device work? Probably the best folks to ask about LCS is maybe LCS. Here's their number: (376) 766-1140
  6. These look like great options...pretty inexpensive too! VHS only though...slides, 8 and 16 millimeter home movies and old photos will need the old fashion way. But since you have a VHS tape these look great!
  7. If it helps, even the pros all use the same method: Essentially all the methods out there play/project the image on a screen, TV or even a wall. Then they place a digital recording device in front of the image being played...slides, old 8/16 mm home movies, VHS tapes....basically whatever! Simply find a VHS player (easy) a nice TV with good quality screen and then simply set up a digital recording device, camcorder, cell phone etc on a tripod or propped up on a box...whatever you have, and press record. After you have it recorded on a digital device, you covert it to a DVD or any of the formats of digital files...MP4 etc...this last step frequently requires a teenager or younger. I have never checked YOUTUBE but the smart money says there are dozens of instructional videos. Easy...it has always been a super low tech industry. If folks only knew how easy it is considering most people already have what is needed.
  8. Amen...I have a few buddies listed here!
  9. I have a feeling a round-trip airline ticket booked in Mexico from Guadalajara to Los Angeles and back is cheaper than a round-trip ticket booked in the US from Los Angeles to Guadalajara and back. I know that is true for tickets purchased in Italy. My hypothesis is: US airlines or those foreign airlines operating out of the US essentially to anywhere and then back to the US will charge what they feel the market will bear....which is more than the corresponding tickets from most places in the world to the US and then returning the place of origin. Anyone have a thought?
  10. The link typically is a site selling a diet program of something useless...but no matter what, it's not something good. A test is put your mouse over the top of the link....DO NOT CLICK....on my screen in the lower left, it shows where the link really goes...usually it's a site that makes no sense. Don't Click ever!
  11. I am not there yet but crazy about Pickle Ball. I thought it was just for old 70 year olds like me....but some of those grandmothers will give me a good pasting!! Really glad to hear they have PB.
  12. I am not to sure of this. It would appear the banks may or may not choose to use the Mastercard or Visa rates. Bank of America on their site says they set the exchange rate. "Answers Hide How does Bank of America determine foreign exchange rates and why might I see different rates online or in the newspaper? The consumer exchange rate that Bank of America N.A. (Bank of America) offers you is determined by Bank of America and is based upon such factors as we determine relevant, including without limitation, market conditions, exchange rates charged by other parties, our desired rate of return, market risk, credit risk and other market, economic and business factors. When you order foreign currency online or at one of our financial centers, the exchange rate we offer is, in effect, a rate quotation. You may accept or decline our rate quotation. If you accept our rate quotation and we have not canceled your order, you have entered into a final and binding transaction at the rate you accepted. Exchange rates shown in the newspaper and on some currency conversion sites are generally inter-bank rates available only to banks for transactions in an amount of $1 million U.S. dollars or more effected during regular business hours. These rates are not generally available to consumers obtaining foreign currency for international travel and likely will be different from exchange rates offered by Bank of America. Exchange rates offered by other dealers or shown at other sources (including online sources) may be different from Bank of America's exchange rates.Footnote1 The exchange rate you are offered may be different from, and likely inferior to, the rate paid by us to acquire the underlying currency." And from Mastercard: "Please Note: The foreign exchange rate and the converted FX amount are indicative only and inclusive of the bank fee you entered. Your bank may or may not use Mastercard foreign exchange rates to bill you and may impose additional fees in connection with foreign currency transactions. Foreign exchange rates are specific to the date and time Mastercard processes the transaction which may be different from the transaction date. If your transaction is converted by the merchant or ATM operator, Mastercard foreign exchange rates will not apply. This will usually occur when you select to pay in your card's currency as opposed to the currency of the merchant or ATM. "
  13. I hear some Lakeside banks are bumping up ATM fees and possibly adding surcharges for accessing funds in banks NOB. What are the best places to access funds from US banks in Ajijic or at least Lakeside?
  14. Take a look at these driving instructions. See if they help: https://www.accesslakechapala.com/guide/driving-in-mexico/driving-instructions-from-laredo-to-chapala/
  15. I enjoyed your post and was happy to hear of a day when everything fell into place... Here's hoping you have a bunch more where everything just goes perfectly!! Illegitimi non carborundum
  16. These are very powerful hardware upgrades!!!
  17. Most Uber drivers would jump at the chance for a guaranteed daily run! If yours is a one time thing, not likely someone would opt to go to the trouble. Uber drivers are vetted as are clients. Just as with taxi drivers, the vast majority are great.
  18. Mainecoons, you are of course right and I admit falling prey to this comment above and I apologize to all for rising to the bait. I was out of line. This board seems to have a lot of name calling and back biting. I am generally not used to it and it simply leaves me unsettled. I believe I will simply fold my tent and leave the discussions to those with thicker skins!
  19. So Gringo Hombre...I can't help but point out geeser from your camp started this thread. Oh and Twitter...that's your Denier in Chiefs primary medium. And finally...no one made you open the post!
  20. Most importantly, Al Gore's Climate Reality presentation will be presented for free in both Spanish and English this coming weekend Oct 5 at LCS. It's part of the Recycling Party. I hope you folks are ok with recycling?? I am an Al Gore trained and certified presenter of this program as well and am trying to arrange a second presentation in December!
  21. I would have expected nothing less.....as we say some are committed to be completely wrong to the end!
