  1. BEIJING (AP) β€” In a rare admission of the weakness of Chinese coronavirus vaccines, the country’s top disease control official says their effectiveness is low and the government is considering mixing them to get a boost. ... The effectiveness of a Sinovac vaccine at preventing symptomatic infections was found to be as low as 50.4% by researchers in Brazil, near the 50% threshold at which health experts say a vaccine is useful. By comparison, the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine has been found to be 97% effective. https://apnews.com/article/beijing-immunizations-chengdu-coronavirus-pandemic-china-675bcb6b5710c7329823148ffbff6ef9
  2. Have you not seen the videos of belligerent Costco members being forceably removed from the stores for not complying with mask requirements? It's in their best interest to make sure that they have a safe venue for their members to shop in. No comply, no buy.
  3. Yes. Exactly. That is the purpose of selling memberships: to control or limit who is part of your club, business or organization. If not, why would they? They're not raking in billions in profit from the membership fees. It's the exclusivity of being a member and the benefits that come with it. What a "club" giveth, they can taketh away. Hey, I've been a happy Costco member for almost 30 years. But I'm also far younger than 60, so whatever... I get to shop. 😜
  4. Costco, because it charges a membership fee, can restrict access to anyone it wishes to. They are under no obligation to allow anyone in that they don't want to.
  5. Just because I'm an insufferable pedantic: https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=loogie πŸ‘
  6. Thank you, RV. I am considerably younger than the average person posting on this board, and I am always amazed at the poor quality of the writing here. For a generation brought up before the "decline" of the educational system, there sure are a lot of very sloppy communicators posting on this site. I suppose I shouldn't have let my expectations get too high. Let the "downvotes" commence. 😜
  7. Although I have had somewhat better luck with the beer, Oregontochapala is 100% right on the other points. Indifferent service even when we're unfailingly polite and pleasant, very inconsistent food, and acoustics so poor that it's almost impossible to hold a conversation when there are more than a couple of tables occupied. It's a real shame that it's not better... The potential is there.
  8. They have an excellent special on Mondays: 15 for the price of a dozen, $300 pesos. Open until 8 PM, and for what it's worth I highly recommend them. πŸ‘
  9. We've had no issues at all with west-side Telmex fiber optic before or during this self-isolation; I'm still getting 25% more speed than contracted for and no problems with WiFi... even on the terrace without mesh or a repeater. I know this is a very different experience than many have with Telmex, and I hope it gets better for all of you. πŸ‘
  10. All that is needed is one person to start the spread of the virus within a group. Think of it like an STD... πŸ€”
  11. That's a nice gesture, but wouldn't it be a little tricky to drink with a mask on? πŸ€”
  12. Telmex fiber optic in the west-end is still going screamingly fast.
  13. It's not Latin, per se, but rather standard placeholder text that's used in publishing and graphic design. Seeing it essentially means that the website isn't finished adding content. Literally... nothing to see here, folks.
  14. We've eaten there a few times and enjoyed it. No complaints. But because of the location, it falls off our radar; out of sight, out of mind.
  15. I've got a lovely bridge to sell anyone who thinks an accredited engineer had anything to do with this debacle. πŸ™„
  16. Depends on a combination of how good, connected, and/or expensive his lawyer is. I'm not being facetious, that's just the way things are.
  17. Have you checked the line from the pedestal outside of the house to its termination inside the house? An intermittent problem like yours might be fixed by replacing that length of cable. I know it worked for me a few years ago.
  18. Ernesto also stood us up on two occasions, knowing he had work to do. We had to get someone else to finish the job. Can't trust calling him again. Nice guy, but stretched thin.
  19. Five of us went there this morning, and I had the Italian omelette as well. Everything was excellent all around. People may wonder why we're going on about this place when there are so many other restaurants out there. Well, for me, it's not just because the food is very good... but also because the owners really want you to have a great experience. So many places here are indifferent to their customers, and get complacent. Not so with Sentidos. They are really busting their butts, and it shows.
  20. Went there today. I try to resist recommending restaurants, but I will in this case. It's run by a very nice young owner named Horacio. He was so gracious and friendly, and the place was super clean, bright and airy without being chilly at all on a January morning. The items on the menu were not expensive; very much in line price-wise with Cafe Negro and Cafe Huerto. We were very happy with the quality, portions, and service. Open 8 AM - 3 PM, closed Mondays. They're working on a dinner menu, but we were able to have lunch items during breakfast hours without any problems. They are very eager to please, and really seemed to have their act together. It's well worth a try. πŸ‘
  21. As a sometime performer myself, I like to remember what a wise man once said: "Your 'boos' mean nothing, I've seen what makes you cheer."
  22. No, it means that it's a moot point discussing the installation costs when each fracc is different. To each their own.
  23. Well, each development negotiates its own cost... Depending on the number of houses and existing infrastructure, among other things. However, I can say with confidence that the fracc on the libramiento and my development are as different as chalk and cheese.
