As I stated you do not need an ID to buy from Mercadolibre.

I was discussing the ID requirement for Mercadopago.

I too have Paypal accounts. In the USA for over 20 years, and in Mexico for about 10 years.

Recently I was in the US and helped a relative sell some items on eBay receiving the funds in Paypal. First time I had done this in 15+ years, and Paypal required a lot of information before they would let me transfer the money to a bank account. That included verifications that were able to access credit bureau to verify my identity.

Huh, that's unusual; for me anyway. I use paypal to transfer funds between countries and bank accounts as well as sell items quite consistently. Perhaps this is due to having a business account for many years. I confess to not really knowing what Mercadopago is, however I can hold a credit on Mercadolibre with the type of registration I initiated. If I had to do a live photo as they requested for the other registration, I simply would be unable and they would not have me as a customer.

I presently have a complaint submitted to the ADA regarding the practices of some of the contracted ID verification companies which do not provide an alternative upload, besides live camera, to persons with disabilities, like a saved or scanned photo. Think Stephen Hawking being confronted with this.

  2. I have a ML account with no ID given as well as 3 Paypal accounts, one of them business with no ID ever submitted; only bank and credit card verification. When I first attempted to sign up with ML they tried getting me to download a photo from my laptop by allowing access but I have no functioning camera. I then spent an hour trying to cancel the process to no avail. I received no response to requested help. IMO ML is shooting themselves in the foot with this process, compared to using Paypal or purchasing on Amazon. They are also denying many customers who are arthritic or disabled, thus unable to do the photo upload.

Thanks to advice from Natasha, I simply used another browser, hit the purchase now button, instead of registering first; then registered over again, paid at OXXO and got my purchase - no ID required.

Yeah, with the propane and the connection, neither of us feel comfortable enough to do it. Murphy's Law is almost guaranteed in this case!

Is it still under warranty? If not and you do not need a B&S certified tech then you could ask Michael Merryman for the contact Pedro used. satelites2002@prodigy.net.mx Someone may have a better contact.

The choetes (Boom Booms) are nothing like they used to be 16yrs ago, back then they were twice as many for twice as long.  In my opinion they have been cut back because of the expense.

Expats who want to change Mexico to a place they come from like to use the excuse “Mexican families don’t like them either”   In 16 yrs I’ve never heard a local Mexican complain about them.  Sure they may nod their head while listening to expats  complain about the cobblestones, the loud music, the noisy celebrations, choetes and just about everything else here,  but in their mind are they really thinking “Why don’t you P off back to where you came from..

Last year in November and 3 or 4 years prior. I could pick up a dropped utensil from my kitchen floor, however this last week or so, this isn't possible because my dog is too freaked out from the booms to complete this simple task. I did not even have to bring up the cohetes to anyone, as I only need hear the local rumors. Are you not the person who said I should leave Mexico, when I agreed with you about wages paid by Walmart, yet you thought I was arguing due to your misread?

I have a friend looking to come here. She is disabled using a wheelchair/walker, etc. and has a small service dog, not an "Emotional Support dog).

I'm going to guess that the customs person will tell her she needs this and that (She will get a Vet's health certificate showing vaccinations, etc.), and the dog must have an X days quarantine or some other bovine excrement and she must pay X USD, and she can pay it directly to him, etc.

    Input appreciated.

I flew recently on Alaska Airlines with wheelchair and service dog. Alaska air requested a Department of Transport certificate for the dog which I easily acquired online. She rode with me in the aircraft. Not once did anyone request her health certificate nor vaccination schedule but I had them ready.

  6. "applying jake brakes unnecessary, apparently to make noise.     HOW COULD YOU POSSIBLY KNOW IF IT IS NECESSARY OR NOT? WHAT WOULD BE THEIR MOTIVE TO "MAKE NOISE"?"

Going up slight incline. Brap, Brap. Been around lots of truckers and trucks my whole life. As noted see examples of responsible driving in same zone. Incredibly, I can recognize when someone is driving too fast. Mind boggling isn't it?

    'apparently'

I live two blocks from the #2 Chapala Haciendas entrance.

Yes, I occasionally hear trucks and I do mean occasionally, but I never get my panties in a twist over this.

The hill between Ixtlahuacan and Chapala  is steep enough that when I used to drive a regular passenger van I had to downshift AND apply my brakes frequently to keep the vehicle at a safe speed. Accidents in all areas on both sides of this hill happen so often as to serve as a warning to those who travel this carretera to slow down. The same is true of the Libramiento.

Personally, whatever these trucks must do to keep from having having or causing a major traffic incident is okay with me. They and only they know what is necessary for their truck. I NEVER believe they are deliberately making unnecessary noise. If it bothers you so much (you complain often, so I assume so) now is a great time to sell and move somewhere on the flats. New area, new noises, but maybe you'll be happier.

Many truckers are driving dangerously and with excessive speed on the Carretera west of Ajijic. And yes they are applying jake brakes unnecessary, apparently to make noise. There are many responsible truckers not doing this. This is on the flats. When I was travelling with my motorhome, staying at truck stops, I found Mexican truckers to be the best and most polite I had encountered in North America so I don't know what's up with this local sloppy driving.

IPAB       limited to certain instruments, and covers up to $400,000 pesos   In the case of co-owners of the account, still only up to $400,000

I may be incorrect but I believe the insurance is for 400,000 investment currency units (UDIs) which fluctuate in value but are currently valued at 7.6 so if I am correct a deposit of about 3 million pesos is covered.

  9. The soil in the area, as Natasha has stated, varies widely from lot to lot. Some lots were built up from fill of who knows what. In my case, the home was built 25 years prior to my purchase and there is a large avocado tree which can live to 400 years indicating some original soil base. I am accustomed to non-chemical living soil gardening.  However it seems the previous owners used mostly chemical inputs for fertilizers and pest/disease control.

We seeded alfalfa and applied organic matter & compost; started worm bins, applied compost tea; used soapy spray; coconut oil to fight pests and fungus. It took about 2 to 3 years to fully transition to living soil and now there are abundant earthworms, rolly-pollies and microorganisms in the soil. There is an increased population of predator insects like praying mantis. Plants appear healthier than previously. For further interest here is a link to an article I wrote some years back;  http://microbeorganics.com/#Living_Soil

It can be difficult to evaluate soil pH. To do so accurately, one needs to mix a soil sample with distilled water and use pH strips or a good quality meter which is freshly calibrated. With living soil checking pH of soil is mostly unnecessary. My hydrangea plant tells me the soil where she lives is some acid; some alkaline with pink and bluish flowers.

As posted earlier in this thread they are not using the FMM form at the GDL airport at this time. They are stamping passports with a date.  That is why you don't see the airport listed for the form.

Departing, not arriving. So the FMM form is being used at every airport in Mexico, except GDL? Somehow, I doubt this.

  11. My only tip/suggestion might be, don't buy a place which has a board of directors, unless you are into that sort of thing. I bought a little house in a mostly Mexican neighborhood in Ajijic and although a little noisy, I can get to the grocery store in 2 minutes or restaurant in 1, garbage pick up is daily, water reliable, connected to sewer, so no potential septic issues. IMO, 'nice homes' are nice for rich people and I ain't one.

  12. It is very difficult on a bicycle - moto to have eyes in 4 directions on the bicycle path and dangerous when cars pull across it with the driver only looking the other way. It is also dangerous when motorists stop to let one cross the Carretera. There are too many variables, especially at an intersection. A car can pull out to pass the stopped vehicle, a car can try turning from either cross street, not to mention traffic coming from the other direction. Even if your heart says do it, please don't stop.

I know how to read and added that I wished good bennies for Dra. Claudia and family. Is it so difficult for you to realize that two things can be similar in tone, but not the same? Read my comment more carefully, por favor. I made no conection with HPH.

I did not go the hospital which P thinks I did BTW. He must have done so much work to be able to judge all the ophthalmologists in GDL to know who is the best.
