  1. Yesterday I had 12 telemarketing calls, each time I blocked the number and then within a half an hour would get a call from another number similar to the last number. This morning I’ve had 3 calls already. What’s up with that? These calls seem to come in clusters. Anyone have a similar experience?
  2. Yes there’s a third light. One at Jesús Garcia, one at La Paz Liquor store which I think is Calle Independencia and one at San Jose by Absolut Fenix. And then of course the Walmart intersection.
  3. The light I was referring to is where the original traffic light was, in front of the intersection by La Paz liquor store. That light was removed a few years ago but it’s back again now. I think several people ignored it this morning because it’s new and they didn’t really notice it. May take a week or so until people are accustomed to the new light. When intersections are close together like that, they can be easy to miss at first.
  4. It’s back. Just a heads up. Plenty of folks ignoring it and going through it regardless of the color. Proceed with caution.
  5. You’re not a guest, you’re an immigrant. Your country of birth…do you consider immigrants there guests??? Cuz if you do, it’s offensive.
  6. Jitomate Gourmet has it on Fridays & Saturdays, served with Yorkshire pudding, mashed potatoes and garden salad. Prices by grams with 200 grams being the smallest size. Located in La Canacita, west Ajijic, on the south side of the highway. It’s very tasty. I believe Bruno’s steakhouse also serves it one day a week.
  7. While I’d say overall our TotalPlay connection has been better than Telmex and we’re happy we switched, in the past few months we’ve noticed the connection and speed really lag during comida hours and in the evenings. It’s recently been very slow over the holidays. The installer told us we were the first on the street to get TotalPlay so the connection would be very good but will downgrade as more neighbors join. He also added that as long as the cable which was strung 2 blocks down from the highway wasn’t snapped by a big truck, we shouldn’t have service interruptions. That being said, we still have a Telmex connection which seems to go out more so than TotalPlay. TotalPlay is an improvement over Telmex, at least for now.
  8. We live in a Mexican neighborhood, I would be embarrassed to give them 800 or 1000 pesos when most of our neighbors give them a 2L bottle of soda. Sorry but it just feeds a stereotype that I don’t want to foster. We do give money in the envelope along with a little gift bag of cookies or candies or some kind of treat.
  9. I think it’s always wise to have a plan in the event of an emergency. Being prepared helps the instincts to kick in when the adrenaline starts rushing. I keep the car alarm and garage door opener by the bed, my neighbors know if my car alarm is going off and my garage door is open that means trouble. I also have some spray at the ready. Dogs are a great warning system, most of us can tell when their bark changes to alert and danger. I can tell when the neighborhood dogs are alerting to something “unknown” in the neighborhood. In SAT, we also have the benefit of our watchful neighbors that all seem to look out for one another.
  10. Most of us realized the cases were going to go up as the weather got cooler. And I think basic science in grade school taught us that viruses mutate. I don’t get the panic and the never ending discussions every time this happens.
  11. Could be Telmex, I phoned Haro’s last week 3 times and it said the number didn’t exist, got through on the 4th call. Keep trying.
  12. Nessa is correct, any non U.S. citizens traveling by air into the US for visit or in transit, must now be fully vaccinated and have proof of a negative antigen test. It would seem the only option available as of now would be to get vaccinated here in Mexico. The Canadian government has expanded their list of accepted vaccinations, including Sinovac. MtnMama’s link is a good place to start. Hopefully the vaccinations will be available for sale privately at some point, but when and if, is anyone’s guess. Good luck to you Nessa.
  13. Fumiga 331-464-6705 Rene and team are very thorough.
  14. I went yesterday also early morning, hit 5 bank machines and none of them had money. Annoying since most of them you have to go through the entire process to find out there’s no cash. Went back late afternoon and they had been filled. With high season upon us, I’ll be sure to put a little stash aside for shortages.
  15. TelsZ4, I’m not sure we read the same flyers/letters, there were a few.
  16. For those who haven’t seen the different flyers that were posted around town, this was not a review. It was an assassination of character.
  17. I’ve seen a few different flyers posted around town by this same individual threatening to expose Bellon. It seems to me to be an overly heavy handed tactic to resolve a business dispute in my opinion. Reflects far more poorly on the author than it does Bellon. We’ve been clients of Bellon for many years and have no complaints. Let’s face it, dealing with insurance companies sometimes sucks!
  18. I’m averaging about 25 minutes to go 4km’s on the carretera through town. Are the traffic lights being off in SAT a permanent thing now? Anybody know?
  19. Dr Roberto Montoya who works out of Dr Youcha’s office. Located on the highway in Ajijic in the same plaza as Skyfitness. He’s an excellent chiropractor. 376-766-1973
  20. I don’t see how the US would deny any American citizen entry into US. Vaccinated or not. Maybe if they test positive they can’t enter but otherwise they can’t deny their own citizens entry.
  21. The United States will lift restrictions at its land borders with Canada and Mexico for fully vaccinated foreign nationals in early November, ending historic curbs on non-essential travelers in place since March 2020 to address the COVID-19 pandemic. Unvaccinated visitors will still be barred from entering the United States from Canada or Mexico at land borders. One question unanswered is whether the United States will accept vaccines from visitors who received doses of two different COVID-19 vaccines. From Reuters
  22. You can fly to the U.S. to be vaccinated. It was very easy to do there, you can walk into most pharmacies and get vaccinated within minutes without an appointment regardless of your nationality.
  23. La Floresta is beautiful. I’m in lower SAT which is THE BEST neighborhood of all time but admittedly, it’s not for everyone. We don’t have jake breaks but we do have our noise challenges but they’re more organic sounding than the highway. I prefer south of the highway because it’s easier to get around than mountain side. Again, La Floresta is lovely and quieter than SAT and beautiful wide streets. Know that wherever you decide will be fine, home is where the heart is.
