  1. Sounds like your oven igniter is not working. They frequently have to be replaced. One cause of the igniter not working is the igniter sometimes gets lint and other debris stopping up the pilot. If this is the cause you can take a straw and blow hard on the pilot and blow the lint away. The straw is a trick a gas technician showed me. This trick can be used on any gas burning stove or water heater. Try it before calling a technician.
  2. My wife and I were in San Luis Soyatlan two weeks ago looking at properties. There were two houses for sale in San Luis overlooking the park and Lake Chapala. These had for sale signs on them. I am sure there are more in the area. There were several nice looking fracctions in the area. We wound up buying land near San Cristobal another nice little pueblo. Plans are to build a house in a few years. At the moment we are building in Riberas but this area is getting to crowded. Did not see many realtor signs over there. Most sales were by owners. I think prices on the south side will really escalate in the next few years and buying property here will be a wise investment.
  3. Uber does not have an initial contact telephone number. You must go to the Uber app and enroll in the program before you can use it. When enrolled you call their number they will tell you how much the charge is for your trip and will charge to your credit or debit card if you use them. You do not pay the driver. In looking at the area they service it includes the area from Chapala to Jocotepec. When they dispatch a car you can track on your phone the car's journey to you.
  4. A month ago we were having trouble getting a taxi from San Antonio plaza to Riberas and we called Uber and they sent a driver from the airport and only charged 35 pesos. After arriving in Riberas we decided to go on to Chapala and we asked her to take us. She said she had already clocked in so we had to call Uber again, luckily she got the call again and I think we only paid around another 35 pesos. She, the driver said Uber was very strict and she could only carry us if Uber assigned her to the call. By the same token our regular taxi driver said he almost got in a fight at Walmart. He was waiting for pick ups when 3 men started passing out cards and saying they were Uber drivers. He tried to tell people they were not Uber drivers because Uber drivers were not allowed to solicit business. He said, he tried to tell people not to ride with them because it could be dangerous but several did any way.
  5. On the internet go to {Dollar today in Mexico} You will find a listing for daily bank rates in Mexico. Santander is usually the best but I believe you must have account for 6 moths before they will convert. In Chapala there is a whole in the wall money exchange just north of Santander Bank. They usually give you better exchange than the banks.
