  1. I agree Farmacia Guadalajara is very reasonable but beware of background. It was to dark for one couple and photos refused by consulate.
  2. Go to Jocotepec there is a whole street of stores at plaza selling leather boots and shoes.
  3. The meat is correct although I would have liked more sauce on it. Most hot dogs use regular ground hamburger meat which is fine. However, real chili meat is a rough grind hamburger meat which cooked looks like the picture. I usually have to request to get the rough grind. I have a 100 year old chili recipe which calls for beef tallow to cook the meat in. Guaranteed to give you heart burn but tastes great.
  4. I agree the sauce is terrible. I had a Mexican friend brag on the ribs but he has never tasted a good southern sauce. Actually I prefer the standard sized pork ribs with meat smoked so tender it falls off the bone.
  5. You cannot mix the vaccines. I had my Phizer vaccine last week and received a information package. The Johnson & Johnson vaccine uses a completely different formula, The Phizer and Moderna are somewhat similar the Johnson & Johnson is a double strand. There is information about it on the internet.
  6. It will be moderna, there is a 4 week wait for moderna booster and 3 week wait for Phizer. I got my Phizer last week.
  7. Food is a subject dear to my stomach, so I appreciate it when someone tells how to make a dish perhaps better. I don't think country of origin matters. A chili cheese hot dog is a simple dish to make and I am surprised many Lakeside aren't doing it. CBGUY said it was good for him and this is all that matters. The fries do look good and I'm sure I will give this restaurant a try. Who knows I might talk them into melting the cheese and putting a little more chili on mine.
  8. This is not much of a chili dog. I would rate only a D plus. Don't know what the wienie or sausage is but doesn't look like one used for a chili dog. This is actually an attempt at a chili cheese dog. The chili should cover all the wienie and the cheese melted on top with topping of diced onion and sometimes fresh diced jalapeno pepper. Bun is usually not toasted. My favorite are the foot long ones.
  9. We had the contractor who installed the tank run a line outside on our perimeter wall so propane could be input there and another line to our kitchen with a gage so we could monitor how much gas we had. I would check with one of the tank suppliers and they should be able to give you a contact for this. We used a general contractor who was doing some construction for us.
  10. Most gas suppliers will not fill above the 80% because of danger of tank blowing up. Especially if the tank was almost empty. There is not as much danger if tank has quite a bit of gas left like 40% or more. However it is better to not fill over the 80% mark. We had a gage installed in our kitchen which tells us what per cent is in tank. Tank like most casa's is on the roof.
  11. Many times debris, spider webs, etc get into the pilot of the thermocouple. To clear this get a straw and blow hard several times on the tip. This should clear the thermocouple and it will stay lit. A natural gas employee taught me this trick.
  12. I have a gardener year round in Riberas and I'm sure he would enjoy putting the bags on the trees for the crazy gringo. I think it is natural for the peach tree to flower before it puts out the leaves. Here in Oklahoma my peach trees flower first. Unfortunately along will come along a late freeze and get the fruit. What I produce is a lot of is pears. I have 5 varieties but pears are one of my least favorite fruits. We have all the fruit trees because my Mexican wife grew up in Mexico City and never had a chance to have a garden or orchard until now. In Riberas we have lemon and orange trees.
  13. Thanks, to Mostlylost and Chillin. I have 20 apple and peach trees here in Oklahoma and they are very weather oriented. The late freezes usually gets the fruit every year. Sounds like work covering the fruit but I think I will plant a tree or two and see what happens.
  14. I personally don't like curry and unfortunately most India dishes you find in restaurants are based on curry spicing. However there are many dishes without curry and as cafemediterraneo said as you travel India you will find many regional dishes which are quite tasty and don't use any curry. I have found in all the places I have traveled the markets always offer a variety of chili's of which there must be hundred's of varieties. I just trust the restaurant to know what is best for their dish.
  15. Do peach and apple trees produce here? I saw an article one time where in Africa they picked all the leaves off the fruit trees to get them to reset.
  16. Price for Turkey's was very cheap this year in USA, I paid 89 cents a pound. Price is still the same for Christmas and New Years. I don't understand why COSTCO, Walmart and others would not have cheap turkeys in Mexico. Much beef is exported to Mexico so why would turkeys not be also.
  17. A brown substance would not be a termite. Theirs would be a wood substance like sawdust. Spray some fly spray or other poison in the hole and see what happens.
  18. Mexican men dress better than the old knobby kneed gringo's.
  19. Everyone knows the wearing of a mask is not for your protection but for the protection of others. A person has self rights but not at the expense of others. The women had been traveling and should have self quarantined and certainly should have been wearing masks. They showed a total disregard for the health of others. How can we expect the Mexicans to mask when privileged people ignore the common good.
  20. Jackrabbit is stringy and tough, antelope tastes like the sage it grazes on but elk is truly a great venison. Slightly stronger taste than beef. Some of the best chili I ever had was from Elk meat. Once I went elk hunting with 3 other men in Colorado. One was the son of one of the men and he had not hunted much. When we got to the ranch where we were hunting we put the young man on the best site as he had not killed an elk before. Our site's were on a path where the elk came down from the mountain into the valley. Once set up, I suddenly heard the young man shooting almost like an automatic rifle. We all went to his site and he had killed 6 elk. We only had a license for one each. The rancher drove up and was really mad, he said this could cost me my license. You load these elk up and never come back. We made it back home without getting stopped and I had a lot of ground elk for the winter. (didn't ever hunt with young man again)
  21. We are also stuck here in Oklahoma. Travel to Chapala is usually in October, but this year may try and get the new vaccine before we come. Probably in February. Wife has green card so we like to spend our time divided among the two countries.
  22. At one time I owned a ice cream parlor. The most popular flavor I sold was chocolate. There is a privately owned ice cream store chain here in Oklahoma, which is also now in Texas , called Braum's. They have their own dairy herd which is used for the ice cream.
  23. A virus appears killing millions of people world wide. Mysterious metal monoliths appear world wide. Vaccines are speedily prepared which 70% of the worlds population will take. Like a book,no.
  24. Is this buffet style or did they prepare with all the ingredients. Looks great, Something like this was needed in Chapala, I have had trouble finding places I like to get food from there.
