  1. Thank you for your reply. I did ask one of the handymen who have done work for us, he scratched his head & suggested we get an "expert". I saw a similar product at the Home Decor store, I will ask them if they know any installers. What we have is at least 20 years old & likely a lot more, it is probably considered an antique! Worked perfectly until a week ago so has done it's duty, now it just buzzes really loudly both inside & out. I disconnected it Thanks again.
  2. The intercom was already installed (probably for several years) before we moved in. We have been here since 2005. It is not connected to the phone line. I will check around for someone who fixes these things. Thanks for taking the time to reply.
  3. Anyone have a recommendation for repair or replacement of a house intercom system? Thanks.
  4. Tony Gonzalez. He does excellent work. He does not speak much English but always brings a family member (wife or daughter) along who do speak English & if there is ever a problem they whip out their phone translator. Here are the numbers..331-276-0860, or 332-292-7976 or 331-050-6671. These numbers cover his cell, his wife's & his daughter's phones.
  5. We and several friends use Abrahan..he is fluent in English.. 331-487-7497. Lives in Chapala & makes house calls or will take your computer away to fix. Honest & reliable.
  6. Thank you everyone for your replies. Zocualco de Torres sounds like the place for us.
  7. Does anyone have a suggestion of where to buy some equipale furniture. Would like really good quality. Bought a couch many years ago from an area with many furniture stores, I think it was outside of Ocotlan but I can't remember exactly. Locally or Guadalajara would be great. Thanks for any help.
  8. Thank you for the information. Good to know.
  9. We often eat at Jorge's directly across the street from this hospital. The most activity I have ever seen is people washing the front windows. We have never heard of anyone being admitted there. There are seldom more than just a few cars in the parking lot. Anybody have any first-hand information about this place? Maybe we are just around on non-busy days?

  11. No, not screaming Chachalacas, & hope to never hear one except in a park. Am pretty sure it is a nightjar thanks (Bisbee Gal) with lots of friends. They were back again last night, we will leave several outside lights on for a few more nights. We have lived full-time in our house since 2005 & have never been kept awake by nature before. Not a deal breaker for our love of Mexico but a good night's sleep is underrated until you miss several! Thanks for all the input.
  12. So far the "singing" of the grey nightjar described by Bisbee Gal seems to be very close to what we are hearing. I agree it is a pretty little bird, how can such a small thing put out all that racket? There must be several in the yard as they answer each other. The first is really loud then from various areas we hear more. Thank you all so much for your research. Tonight & for the next few nights we will leave several outdoor lights on. Hopefully that will convince them to move on, I don't envy the people who inherit them. Thanks again to all.
  13. We are in central east Ajijic. I don't think it is a parrot or parakeet. There is no nest that we can see & no big green bird. The location of the noise also varies & right now it is right outside the bedroom window. Actually today it is quieter than usual maybe they take Sundays off. This is week #2, we kept thinking it would move on. I suspect they will be back tonight so will get the earplugs ready.
  14. We are experiencing really loud birds in our yard. It is hard to describe their sound, a cross between a cricket & an owl. One calls & others answer most of the day & all night. We are losing sleep. Anyone else hear these? They sit in the tree branches. We have never actually seen one, but boy can you hear them.
  15. Hi, I use Antonio..he is a great guy & very talented & reliable..his cell is 331-276-0860. He does not speak much English, both his wife & eldest daughter do. His wife's cellphone is 331-050-6671. He has been working at my house for the past month but should be finished this week.
  16. My gardener "thinks" but does not know for sure that it might a kermes for the bells as it is their ten year anniversary. I have no idea if this is true.
  17. Try "Bring It On Cleaner". Got mine at the Hardware Store next to Farmacia Guadalajara corner of Encarnacion Rosas & the Carretara. South West corner. My shower tiles are the common clay ones found here.
  18. Thank you so much for your time & info. Most valuable.
  19. I am not sure of his legal status in Mexico. I doubt very much he has attained Mexican citizenship. His mother was deported back to Mexico 11 years ago. She brought her children with her but when teen-agers they both opted to return to the US & live with relatives. There was always a shortage of money. The goal is to fly him here, visit with his mother for a few weeks & then return him to California. In the past this was no big deal but now all the rules have changed, & seem to be changing weekly. Thank you for your reply. I will continue my quest for information.
  20. I am hearing many differing opinions. What I need to know is can an American Citizen cross the border by car & enter into Tijuana? He needs to catch a flight to GDL. He would be driven across by a Mexican relative who is legal in the US & has papers to prove it. In fact this family has been crossing to the Tijuana airport for many years & absolutely no problems. This is not a case of dire emergency, he is simply a 18 year old boy who has not seen his mother in several years & would like to visit while school is out. I am buying the ticket & would not want him turned away at the border. Would the same rules apply to walking across the international bridge linking California with the Tijuana airport? Does anyone know of a person who has done this within the last few months. I have tried contacting immigration on both sides & have never talked to a real person, just sit on hold forever until I finally have to hang up. Thanks for any help.
  21. Do you have a guy/contractor who has done work at your house? Try giving him a call, ours responded on a Sunday night during the last last wind storm when a sky light blew off.
  22. The best thig about Mexico is the people. They adopted us shortly after our arrival 16 years ago. My Spanish is still limited but we communicate by waving our arms around & smiling a lot.
  23. I am needing to send a Fed Ex address label for the party in the US. to send a package back to me. I researched Fed Ex & there appears to be a few locations in Ajijic. Does anyone know which office would be the easiest to communicate with in English. Thanks for any info.
  24. Farmacia Christina in the El Torito plaza. They are not expensive.
