  1. This is Pia-

Her history: About 4 1/2 years ago someone asked me take Pia because her human was not taking her back to the US with her. I did.
Little did I even imagine that I would be leaving here. Husband passed away 3 years ago and she has been my companion. Now I am leaving
to live with my only daughter and I cannot take her with me to Switzerland (not allowed in apartment)

So Pia, the foster child, needs a new home. She is a sweet kitty, loves to snuggle. She has been inside/outside, but I think she would adjust alright to being inside.
As an only kitty, not sure how she would do with other cats or dogs. She is a little skittish.

She is fully vaccinated, has her litter box, food enough for a few months, flea/worm protection supply for a few months, toys and a small climbing/scratching/hiding tree.

She will attach to you, I'm sure. Please tell anyone that you know who needs a sweet companion.

  2. Yes.  She has done some extensive work for me. She is very thorough  and conscientious. I recommend her highly. And it is very personal and easy to get an appointment. My experience with another Notaria was not very personal - over an hour wait, even when I had an appointment.

It's the hand-written record you received   after getting your shot, and before you left the venue.

NO IT ISN'T. See the comment I made above. I was there today and experienced this. You do have to have the one you got, but you also must have this. It's a lot faster if you already have it in your hand and don't have to wait for them to print it out for you. I know because I had not printed it out.

I'm not sure what the "record of vaccination" is.

Is it the original application completed months ago or the handwritten record of the first inoculation?

    TIA

YOU HAVE TO HAVE THIS! You go back to the mivacuna website, put in your curp and click where it says: Confirm CURP and then click on "Expediente de Vacunacion'. Print this out and take it with you. You have to have it, or they will print it out there for you (takes more time and quality was very poor- probably running out of ink). You also have to have the hand written one to show them you had one vaccine.

They only asked for my Permanente Visa, no other documents other than those mentioned above.

  5. Went to Cutlajomulco today for 2nd vaccine. Got there at 2:05, left at. 3:00. Very few people. It took longer because of printing out the form (see note below).

Note: If you are going tomorrow or later this week, be sure and go to the registration website and print out the 'Expediente de Vacunacion' and take it with you (I hadn't done it) They have computers there to print one out for you (give them your CURP no.), but you get into the slower lane and wait while they do it. I was only asked for the proof of first vaccine (which, by the way, has no mention of the location given, not even the municipality) and my Permanente visa.

Oh, and we had a C, a D and an H in our car and they said nothing. We all got vaccinations.

How did you learn of this opportunity?

From the FaceBook group,  'Gringos Ajijic &. Lakeside'. I rarely use FaceBook, but recently I have for Covid updates. I happen to check at 11 pm one night and learned about these vaccines. Took off at 7:45 the next morning to Tlajomulco, 1 hr drive, stayed in my car the whole time even for the jab, waited in my car 30 minutes with the occasional visit from a med student to see if I was ok. Out of there in less than an hour. Took me longer to get home because I got lost!

Sadly, social media seems to be the only way to be informed, which is tragic for many people who don't use it, or don't have relatives to inform them. I was able to tell my Mexican neighbor about the 2nd vaccine in Jocotopec so he could go the last day. He had gotten no notice, even though he got his first jab there. Others I have informed about registration being open for 50-59 year olds. This is absolutely not right, but I am relieved I could find out about it. Guess FaceBook is good for something!

  7. I got marrow bones at the Tuesday market from the vendor that sells chicken, eggs, butter etc. at the corner to the left, when you come in the front door. The broth was fantastic. Pretty easy, just put into my crock pot with water for a few hours.

Has anyone traveled round trip from Mexico to the States during this time? Any problems?

We are US citizens with permanent resident status in Mexico.

I traveled round trip to US twice. March-June to the East Coast (felt safer because my sister's home is totally isolated in a forest and I have Medicare coverage). July-Sept to Missoula Montana (for required surgery). I felt very safe in the airports (Charlotte, Mexico City, Denver, Seattle) because of all the precautions. I wore mask, goggles and a face shield for protection. I had no carry on luggage to store in the overhead bins, only under the seat. No reaching over other people. Only on one flight (in March at the start of Covid) of the total of 8 flights was anyone sitting next to me, the other flights I paid extra for seats to the front and I was the only one in the row (American, Aeromexico, Volaris, Southwest, Alaska). I quarantined completely for 2 weeks after my travel, both in the US (hotel/guest cabin) and at home after I returned to Ajijic.(last time only 10 days).

My experience. No need to make comments.

  9. If you are going from temporal to permanente: I went on Thursday, June 4 to the office in Chapala.  There was only one other person there. All my papers were in order, she took them and told me I would be contacted in 1-2 weeks (mas o menos) for fingerprints. Usually only one week from fingerprints to new card. But now, who knows.

Note: Interesting that I have been on this board since before I moved here 4 years ago and am still considered a 'newbie'.

  10. This is about more than stocking up on toilet paper. This article is not hype, nor is it "stupid and overblown".  Read it if you are interested in a very clear, intelligent, non-hype statistical evaluation of the pandemic and how various countries have responded successfully and what in all probability will happen in the coming weeks. The title of the article is "Coronavirus: Why you must act now"- by Tomas Pueyo https://medium.com/@tomaspueyo/coronavirus-act-today-or-people-will-die-f4d3d9cd99ca

In Lakeside, with a large number of ex-pats traveling frequently out of the country, there is a higher risk than perhaps other parts of Mexico. The recommendation for anyone arriving here from a country which has incidence of this virus is to self-quarantine for 14 days. This can significantly restrict the spread of the virus in this country. The virus can be spread before there are any symptoms.

Ignoring the significance of this is a danger to everyone.
