  1. Lily H is spot on! How can anyone bitch about an upgrade of medical care availability close to home?
  2. At Dr Haro's office, Dr Pilar cleans our teeth... Extremely efficient but gentle... Highly recomend her...
  3. For the best selection, a trip to GDL is best... Home Depot has a nice selection...
  4. I have made the mistake of removing the card before the transaction finished and received the same message. The machine needs to be able to read the chip in order to connect with the bank... My child bride of 56 years explained this to me and YES she was correct!
  5. Agree with Johanson, H2Ole provides excellent service... I have Jackie change my filters every three months and bring the salt... It costs more than when I did it myself but the convenience pays for itself... Jackie's salt was 150 pesos... Certainly not worth driving around on $4/gal gas to look for cheaper salt...
  6. To purchase AND register a car, one must have a Temporal or Permanente visa. I would suggest contacting Spencer at S&S auto... You pay the same price as at the auto dealers in Guad... I have purchased two new and one used from Spencer with excellent results... S&S phone: 765-4800...
  7. Some info from those folks looking to buy hearing aids. a. Polo at LCS will sell the same model Costco sells at the same price. b. Costco sold hearing aids have a code that only allows Costco to adjust them... Something I didn't know. All brands other than Costco's can be adjusted locally by Polo... c. Costco does not carry a vendor's full line but only those models that sell... Which makes sense, but doesn't give the customer a full range of options... d. Ear molds are a thing of the past... A digital camera now takes a picture of the inner ear and the mold is 3d constructed... A big advance... e. I have to agree that hearing aids are expensive but they can be purchased on credit which raises the cost but does provide an option...
  8. Dra Pilar at Haro's is excellent...Barragan has an excellent reputation...
  9. The previous owner of our home paid approximately the same as you... We installed solar and cut it down to an annual monthly usage of 500 pesos... We have a pool, freezer, etc so our usage is more than the average...
  10. You might wish to check to see if you qualify for the foreign income exemption which is over $100k now... Get a good tax accountant...
  11. We have a Vonage line so contacting Capital One or receiving a code via phone is not a problem.

  13. Spencer: Another outstanding public service... Muchas Gracias!
  14. I live in Rancho del Oro... CFE bills come to the house but not on a regular basis. Also, the variance in billing suggests that CFE sometimes estimates our bill...
  15. Construction is ongoing... It was supposed to be completed in December according to a physician who will be moving there... It certainly will not be ready by then but it is moving along...
  16. Our home in Paris was right out of the IKEA catalogue... Walking through the IKEA store in Riyadh was a trip down memory lane... Interesting assortment of furniture and kitchen items... The furniture is well designed but not built for 20 years...
  17. If your US plated car is still in the country when your visa is issued you can probably say goodbye to your $400 deposit... Spencer was unable to pry our deposit from their grubby little fingers... Our first contribution to Mexican bureaucracy.
  18. Ditto on Bournemouth's comment... Oscar came to our house, brought samples, picked up the items to meet his schedule (2 weeks later) and delivered them in two weeks... Don't expect a speedy turn around... He does excellent work and has a large clientele....
  19. Oscar made six cushions for our patio set...Reupholstered a sofa and loveseat and custom made a dog bed .... All quite reasonable and delivered as promised... He is busy so manage your expectations...
  20. We have 10 panels and our bill averaged 500 pesos over a year... The former owner was paying 2500 to 3000 per billing period... without the panels... We had E Sun come out and we found that our pool pump is drawing 14.5 amps instead of the normal 8, which means that running the pump for 4 hrs daily is accounting for 50% of our bill... Replacing the pump with a 2 speed or variable speed will cost around $800 USD... But the usage is less than 1/4 that of the existing pump. Moral: If you have a pool and have a single speed pump you are paying tooooo much!
  21. Agree with jrm30655. You might wish to contact past employers to see if you can be of assistance via on line and as a 1099 contractor. On line makes much more sense than trying to find a position here in Mexico due to immigration and financial considerations.
  22. Just attended the meeting... Take aways: 1. There are NO changes to the 2012 law.... 2. Show your Temperal or Permanente card at immigration First when re-entering the country... 3. As someone suggested: Write Termperal or Permanente at the top of your INM form...
  23. My wife purchased new Resound brand NOB (wireless capable) for $5300 USD late last year... Costco Mx sells the same brand but probably not the wireless capable... Hearing aids are expensive.... but we get great service from our vendor if and when needed...
  24. Just received a note from the American Legion that Mexican regulations regarding entry and exit procedures have been changed. The note said that failure to follow the new regulations would invalidate existing visas and require resubmittals... There is a meeting of various civic groups scheduled for the 11th but it would be beneficial if all were to have info on these changes... Spencer can you comment?
